Thanks to Lukafer for getting me some of this. I was stoked to try it out!

A- Pours a reddish brown color. One finger tan head shows medium retention. No real lacing on the sides of the glass when I drank this one down.

S- Light Belgian yeast with cherries make up a lot of the aroma. Backend of this has a lot of brown sugar with some medium alcohol that tingles the nostrils.

T- Lots of sweetness to this. Light almost roasted malts with a nice belgian yeast. Darker cherries and light darker fruits make up the middle of the beer. Sweet alcohol and light green apple notes in the ending.

M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is low for the style and beer itself. Darker fruits with brown sugar are left on the palate. Aftertaste is sweet alcohol, green apple and caramel sweet malts. Medium drying on the palate from the alcohol. Flavors are not balanced at all with it being booze filled malty mess. Some light off flavors but they actually went well with the beer.

D- This one was interesting. The flavors seemed to be a little all over the place. Not my favorite from Sun King but it was still a lot better than most other breweries offerings. The ABV was apparent but it didn't become a nuisance in the slightest.

Shared a growler from the Sun King tasting room with some friend at Z's corn-toss tourney. Too bad I got shut down at the toss, but the company and beer was great. Thanks!

Sun king tipping point is an interesting double brown Belgian that mixes really interesting flavors: sour apple and caramel with toasty and roasty malts! Sour apple was more pronounced in the tap, with sweetness and apple cider much more prominent in the growler. A farmhouse porter? A sour double-dark? What is this?

Finished with hints of vinegar and yeast with strong cider overtone. Ends bitter, but not hops bitter. Strong red color pronounced over mahogany base. Little head. Nutmeg and allspice, maybe mace in the background round out a complex layered flavor profile. It's a belly warmer. Cinnamon.

Dude at the brewery called it a Belgian brown, which makes more sense. It don't taste like a dubbel.

This is one of the least alcoholic higher-ABV Belgians I've ever had. I really don't know what's going on with the yeast. It's lightly Belgiany, but it also tastes like rounded American lager (!) yeast, like the strain they use in Sun Light. Strange, huh? There's probably a simple explanation for what's going on and I'm just not a seasoned enough beersman to figure it out, but still I've drank an awful lot of Belgians and even the American ones didn't taste like this.

But aside from the yeast--there's a lot of very sweet, Belgian-roasted malt in here. And by sweet I mean, like, captial-S Sweeeet, with a couple of extra e's. It's nice, but this is the kind of malt that needs to be evened out with a more aggressive, spicier yeast. This tastes almost like wort.

Let's call this one a pleasant mess. It's unbalanced, which makes is overall appeal less than the sum of its parts, but those parts are still pretty tasty.

This beer was made available courtesy of great friends visiting from Indianapolis who lovingly transported a growler from the last remaining keg of Tipping Point.

Poured from growler into Chimay Goblet.

A - pale brown with hints of both red and orange; thick foamy head but if left little lacing

S - exact characteristics of the aroma were hard to define, but it was sweet and did give indication of 9.8% ABV

T - Sweet and almost creamy; the high alcohol content showed through.

M - silky smooth with a sticky texture that faded almost immediately

D - texture and flavor make it an easy drinker, but sweet character and high ABV hold it back just a bit.

Poured from a growler filled at the brewery a couple of hours ago.

Pours a medium amber/red with a finger of off white head.  Smells are yeast, slight alcohol, maybe some raisins.  Taste is yeast, maybe some cherries, slight oxidation but not too much and a little alcohol at the finish, but not near as much as you would expect for a beer of this abv.  Very smooth an flavorful, although nine of the flavors are overpowering.  Mouthfeel is thick and sticky.  Drinkability is great for this style, really smooth, probably due to the year it's been cellared. Sun King make some really great limited and seasonal releases, and I love the fact they growler fill everything they make.

grabbed a growler from the last keg available at the brewery 2 days ago. it's been cellaring for about a year.

poured from the growler to a sun king shaped pint glass a translucent reddish / caramel brown with a frothy, one-finger off white short-lived head leaving nice retention.

aroma of yeasty, cherries (?), and light brown sugars.

toothy, dark, a little boozy, sweet, dried black cherries (or) dark raisins - very complex.

thick, leaning toward syrup-ey, medium carbonation, boozy to the palate.

drinkability - hmm, maybe 2 pints.
