Filled a half growler at McKay's in Bellingham, WA, for 2015 Bellingham Beer Week.
Look: This has a clear amber body with a nice, almost white, viscid head. Lacing is not too sticky, but bits and pieces are left artfully on the sides of the tulip.
Smell: Amazingly aromatic. Semi-sharp tropical fruit hop aroma with notes of citrus, lemon, and dirty pine. The smell of the "wonder hop." The Mosaic overwhelms my sense of smell. This is fresh.
Taste: The taste is described by the smell. Nice hop bitterness. The Mosaic is nicely represented. For me, the Cherry-wood is an afterthought, but it does add a unique element. There is a barely noticeable aftertaste of cherry at the end.
Feel: Light to medium body. Medium carbonation. Nice lather at the finish.
Overall - I was never a fan of the base Interurban IPA, but this version is a top-shelf IPA. Fremont does an outstanding job using their base beers as a medium for excellently crafted brews with adjuncts. Just take a look at what they did with Abominable, Dark Star, and Interurban. This is very tasty and extremely drinkable. Another work of art from Fremont Brewing Company.
