Three Years Ago, out of the darkest reaches of a lonely universe, on a spinning rock three planets from the burning Sun, emerged a hero to the unserved craft beer masses of Central Seattle (and their dogs and children). His name was Chuck. Bringing forth the light and vision to unite all the great Craft Beer Houses and Food Trucks into one glorious entity, Chuck’s Hop Shop Central District, Chuck’s CD, fought back the darkness of Corporate Beer to bring great beer and great people together. It is our honor to brew this Third Anniversary Beer for Chuck’s CD, and we hope you enjoy it with a friend, old or new, and raise a toast to Chuck’s CD and all the fine people who make it such a special place in our community. So, Phantom Chair IPA is a hazy IPA loaded with metric tons of hop goodness. DRINK THIS BEER FRESH…IT WILL NOT AGE. Bursting forth with Simcoe, Ekuanot, Columbus, and Unnamed Experimental Hops, this radiant, hazy IPA will remind you of the warmth and light brought into our world by Chuck and the fine people at Chuck’s Hop Shop Central District. History flows forward on rivers of beer. VWP

Pkgd 01/05/17. Pint can served in a tall glass. Beer pours pale yellow and oh look it is EXTREMELY sedimented. I'm not even sure if that's yeast or trub or hop particles (probably not hop particles) but this beer is chunky. Luckily I have a 4 pack to compare against in case this sediment needed more care. Nice white head though.
Tropical, melon aroma. Sweet flavors of pineapple lollipop and a really clean, fresh, pine-hop flavor complimented nicely by a light mouthfeel with fine carbonation. I'm not drinking this nearly as fresh as it deserves, but it seems ok, and yet, this really speaks to me as a Spring IPA rather than Winter. Lucky for me I guess.

Body is a pale orange/yellow that is impenetrable and when held to the light it glows like spun gold. A solid finger of suds that sits sentinel and leaves lovely lacing along the edge as I imbibe.
Nose offers an unsurprisingly soft bouquet of fruits and melon and a bit of citrus.
On the tongue we get to explore these same flavours further, as the sweet lead is handled by tropical fruits such as papaya and mango and pineapple and yes some coconut even and honeydew and maybe even a little bit of cantaloupe. This sweet cavalcade is accompanied by a citrus presence that bridges the gap and ushers in the pithy bitter finish that is the coup de grace of the whole damn glass. I've had other PNW/NE style combos that didn't handle this transition and juxtaposition well and it can become an unpleasant mess fast. This one handles it with aplomb, though I feel that it does so better out of the can than it did on tap.
Body is not even really medium heft, but with enough excitable effervescence to distract that the thinness of the body doesn't really jump out.
Fremont makes good beer, period. This does nothing to dissuade me of that opinion.

Was lucky enough to catch this one on tap at Chuck's. The combo of hops in this one, give it a strong citrus profile, but it finishes herbal/earthy. Fremont exploring the NE haze style, good stuff.
