Our hero, Dark Heron, was exiled from her flock for daring to express herself differently from the rest. Forever banished from the heron fold, Dark Heron vowed to never sacrifice her right of free expression to the tyranny of conformity. Dark Heron stands as a beacon of light and justice, calling to all those who seek to protect the freedom of expression! Dare to be different!

fremont never misses, especially with the hoppy stuff, this is as good as any in the game, and another triumph for these guys with an ipa. im not sure why i thought it would be dark, knowing nothing about it when i ordered a can, the name maybe, but its not, another dry hopped pale colored brew, this time with a very mosaic forward hop complexion to me, but so much better than most, pineapple sure, but none of the greenness or catty thing at all, and just full of freshness, even though this was canned a little while ago. the malt base is real basic, and lighter here than in like the head full of dynomite series beers, less cloudy, less full bodied, less dense. this is light to me, especially being so dry and bubbly, really drinkable, and with hardly any bitterness so it warms up well too. the hops are simple but delicious, cooked pineapple, fresh mango and guava, sweet lemon, and a light tea herbal profile as well, citrus all the way, almost more like a cocktail than a beer, refreshing and summery, just really good. juicy but clean at the same time, just a world class example of the style here, and a beer i wish i could get full time. one of their best and definitely the highlight of last nights beer drinking...

Very cloudy straw appearance with significant white head. Aroma is a nice orange/citrus with a touch of hops. Taste is a mild orange/citrus that is a little too mild.

That pale chalky orange body folks are into about now. Decent white head initially dissipates pretty quick to a Van Gogh galaxy swirl. A little bit of lacing.
Nose is a orange note with some pith and a little bit of almost earthy grapefruit.
Flavour leads in with some soft blunted orange pith and then carries across hints of floral and some earthy hops. Finish is thin pithy bitter.
Blossoms a little bit as it warms to give more depth to the orange flavour and support from the floral side.
It's thin and dry and heavily carbonated. Has some green to the last act. This may look hazy, but it leans into its bitter pithy hop origins, which I appreciate. Kind of reminds me of Mod Pod in that regard.
I love me some Fremont, and I enjoy this brew, but I do have to deadpan a little bit with the stylized blurb talking about remaining free from the tyranny of conformity on another hazy IPA. But that shouldn't take away from the fact that this is quite well done (as should always be expected with these guys), and this non-hazy fan finds himself enjoying this can.

Smell- Citrus, orange, earthy.
Taste- Citrus, orange.
Look- Medium to full body, smooth/clean finish, slightly below average carbonation.
