Rated 10-19-2019. Nice fresh hopped beer, better than the Pale ale from this year's fresh hopped beer entry. Don't remember too much about this beer, but reading a couple of the reviews, it is like this years in the fact, that it has a fluffy off-white head with a lot of soapy lacing. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 9/18/2019. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread, toasted biscuit, light honey/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate pale malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread, toasted biscuit, light honey/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread, toasted biscuit, light honey/nutty, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Fairly crisp finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6%. Overall this is an awesome fresh hop American pale ale. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the moderately bitter/resinous/drying finish. Not overly aggressive. Fantastic Citra/Amarillo showcase. Extremely vibrant, dank, earthy, and fairly juicy hops; with a great clean pale malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and outstanding spot on style example. Loved the hop profile as expected.

 

 

 

 

insanely good. it seems cool that instead of single hops in these beers this year they are done in combinations, and this is a brilliant combo, nobody does wet hop beers like fremont and i have loved them all, yet again, from these guys this year! both hops here are decidedly different in wet hop form than they are normally as pellets, trust me there. amarillo has yet to fully blow me away, until now that is, man oh man does it explode in this, and the parts of this that arent citra are incredible, and while the citra is amazing, its more of a known entity, at least for me, and so all the drippy melon and hash oil and wet flower petals and clover and such have to all be from the amarillo, as good as it ever gets. they somehow seem to bring in some pine too, like sticky pine sap, needles, and the day you bring the christmas tree inside, some peach maybe too, this is just so flavorful and good, the nose and the flavor both on point. i think the idea of doing combinations of wet hops makes a lot of sense, the wetness is sometimes the same across varietals, so the mix of types is nice for a more complete spectrum. these two go together amazingly well, and yet again fremont has delivered a hoppy beer well ahead of what everyone else is offering. my gosh, they are so good at this! world class wet hop beer here, and the fact that it is so widely available only turns me on more! slow clap...

Poured into a Fremont pint glass. Pours medium, coppery amber with a one finger white head with good retention and moderate lacing. Aroma of pale and lightly caramel malt, citrus, lightly piney and somewhat dank hops, orange, grapefruit and mild overripe light stone fruit. Flavor is pale malt with slight caramel, citrus and piney hops, lemon, orange, grapefruit, light pine. Lightly resinous piney and orange citrus finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. Two of my favorite hops in this one and a good presentation particularly of the Citra. The hops combination is winning. Fine herbal hop flavor throughout the taste and a nice citrus and pine finish. I guess we are coming to the end of fresh hop season and if this ends up being my last one this year, it's a good way to finish up. This is a not-to-miss series of excellent fresh hop ales.

Poured from a 12 ounce can into a tulip glass.

Look- Deep gold, fine particulate sediment, below average head retention and lacing.

Smell- Citrus, bready.

Taste- Bready, malty, slightly citrus.

Feel- Between thin and medium body, slightly below average carbonation, astringent finish.

 

Poured from a 12oz can with a canned on date of 9/20/19; into a pub glass.
Appearance- clear, gold, with champagne bubbles; thick, foamy white head that leaves gorgeous lacing!
Smell- heavy citrus fruit with mixed berries!
Taste - bitter fruit cup of grapefruit, oranges, and strawberry; hints of some pepper and earth!
Feel - plenty of in your face hop bitterness, but an earthy malt touch to give some balance!
Overall- really well done northwest IPA; a real hop bomb, but not stupid aggressive!

 

 

 

 

12oz can (canned 9/18/2019) into a tulip. Pours a clear golden copper with a bright white head, nice patchy lace.

Aroma is a tropical burst of orange and grapefruit, juicy. Citra shining through.

Taste likewise is led by the citrusy fresh hops. Nice clean bite, goes down easy.

Mouthfeel is drinkable and refreshing, medium bodied.

Overall a delicious fresh hop beer.
