This is an incredibly drinkable double IPA despite the high alcohol. There is some haze (I assume from dry hopping)? While this double IPA is good all around, the aromatics are truly the high point of this one. As soon as you crack open a can, the essential oils of the hops just leap out to your nose. Note: this is not some crazy hop bomb. It is probably the most delicate double IPA I've had. The bitterness is on the low end of the double IPA spectrum, but still moderately bitter enough. I like it just the way it is! It is fabulously well balanced with the malts. This beer even won my wife over who doesn't really care for IPAs or double IPAs as a general rule.
What really makes this beer shine is the highly local ingredients - local fresh hops and local malts from Ling malt. Fremont really deserves some credit for co-founding the Cascadia Grains Conference and the beers that are resulting from the collaboration between local brewers, maltsters and barley farmers delights the conscience (for supporting local economies) and the taste buds (with fresh local high quality ingredients).
