Canned on 04/18/23, found a six pack of tall guys at a grocery store in Del Mar during my two week vacation in the US and so happy to see this still available a few months after release. Figured I’d miss it by the time I was home. Two of my favorite breweries on the Pacific coast. As expected, this is a stellar WC IPA. Crisp, hoppy, balanced, highly drinkable.

Pint at the Westside Taphouse in West Salem Oregon.
$7.00.
Pours a clear darker gold color. Small off white head. Great lace.
Aroma is mainly of citrus style hops. More towards lemon zest than full out grapefruit.
Taste the same light and zesty. There's also a bit of more robust pone going on in the back.
Mouth feel is great. Very balanced.
An excellent WCIPA.

Pours a hazy golden straw with a finger or so of rocky head that dissipates to a thin cap with plenty of sticky lacing. Aroma of citrus, orange and grapefruit. Taste follows nose, medium body, very enjoyable.

16 oz. Can
PKGD: 10/26/22

Poured into a Trillium glass a pretty nice hazy yellow/orange color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, peach), pretty nice pineyness. The taste is pretty nice hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, peach), pretty nice pineyness. Medium body, ABV hidden very nicely, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty tasty beer.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a three finger white head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus and dank hops, lemon, grapefruit and a little pine and mixed fruit. Flavor is pale malt, pine and citrus hops, lemon, grapefruit, pine, mild mixed light fruit and berries and some dankness in the finish. Fine piney and citrus rind bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to medium creaminess. Did not see this collaboration around town, but grabbed it at a stop at the brewery. Glad to see any West Coast style IPAs around. Like a lot of current IPAs of this style, this one has some fruit notes that are not traditional, making the flavor profile a bit busy, but as to be expected from two solid brewers of hoppy ales, the hops bill is quite nice. Has enough citrus and pine to fit the style and the berry/fruit notes are light enough to add interest without straying to far. Somehow initially tastes like a lighter, more mellow take on the IPA, but the flavor builds during the taste and ends with a completely satisfying bitter finish. Wouldn't mind if this one stuck around for a while. Haven't see many Pizza Port branded IPAs in quite a while in this area.

16oz can from Boise Co-op. Clear golden pour, one finger fluffy white head, lacing. Light hoppy, piney aroma, citrus oil. Taste brings hoppy, resiny flavors, pine, minor dank notes. Mouth coating, mild dryness, lingering bitterness.

fremont and pizza port making ipa together? yes please! this is true west coast style too, some older school northwestern hops it seems, high alpha stuff, nice and bitter, but also super refined with great clarity, a little malt support, and a minimal fermentation profile, just totally awesome stuff, the way ipa used to be, and the kind of thing i expected from these two getting together. they should probably turn this into a full time offering, or maybe even a series. this has some shine from the tap, a little bit of copper color to it, new penny though not tarnished penny, still bright in the glass, not overly malty looking, with a really lathery thick white head. the hop profile is great, bitter grapefruit zest and pith, fresh packed bowl and resin hit both, juniper branch, light green pear, sweet orange peel, and juicy tangerine, really appealing, slightly herbal, and there is some oiliness that i like in these types of hoppy beer, robust but not overdone. there is just the right amount of malt body and flavor to this, a honey note, light toast, but nothing more, and its dry on the swallow, balanced in the way it should be, and just super clean overall, everything clears way for the hops through the back half, really nice, and freshness is on point. some lingering hop bitterness but it never burns, just a prickle of alcohol coming through, and a sort of heartiness that i really like, but also really lively and excited carbonation which makes it easy enough to drink on. no surprise this is sensational!

Delicious West Coast IPA, well-executed by Fremont here; hoppy, crisp, piney, citrusy, with a clean mouthfeel and a nice finish without too much bitterness.

Clear dark, very subtle haze in suspension, foamy white head. Good retention and lacing.
Dank and earth aroma, sweet citrus, onion, chive, blueberry and grapefruit.
Tastes like blueberry and grapefruit, sweet onion, biscuit malt, slight pine. Crisp, dry. slight bitterness.
Smooth mouthfeel, dry, medium carb. So good.

This seems like an all-around classic WC IPA. Canned 10/26/22. Bought from a room temp shelf, chilled, then consumed on 11/12. Beautiful, clear gold color with just a mere hint of chill haze in a tall tulip glass. About 2 fingers or less of white fluffy head that lingers but eventually recedes to a thin soapy film covering the whole surface. A single stand of carbonation bubbles rising from the bottom. Really beautiful, but I wish it left more lacing. Not a lot of smell although my nose is not the most sensitive. Pine is what it hit me with the most. Not picking up fruit. Same on flavor. A fair amount of hop bitterness, but not overly bitter. Moderate body. Clean finish. I like it.

Packaged on 10/26. Pours a clear medium-amber color with a thick head. Light floral nose. First sip brings out a hoppy, medium dry taste with a bit of sharpness. Carbonation is good, very clean finish. Only a hint of malt comes out as it warms in the glass. It reminds us of Fremont's Lush IPA. Very well done. Price point is right as well...$2,79 per 16 oz can.
