Can via Tavour. Haven’t had something from Fremont in quite awhile/years since I’ve been there… and looking fwd to sampling this brew thanks to Tavour distribution opportunity. Attractive richly dark pour with tall creamy mocha tan head. Nose subdued but aroma of coconut, dark malts noted;coffee more prominent with the beer airing and warming. Taste was a very pleasant…as advertised…toasty coconut fwd dark ale with dark roast coffee and hints of dark fruit, toffee and vanilla. Base also benefited from the diverse blend of malts and the old school NW hopping. Very soft smooth mouthfeel; full but not heavy/chewy or thick. The straight roasted barley and oats in evidence.
Overall a well made BA dark ale that was nicely enhanced but not dominated by coconut. Rather well placed in a delicious flavor melange of grains, hops, coffee and wood. Welcome back Fremont.

Appearance: Pours a burnt espresso color with a tan film that quickly fades to a collar; leggy with a splattering of lace

Smell: Chocolate, coffee and coconut with a hint of Bourbon

Taste: Chocolate and coffee forward with the coconut flavors building; the Bourbon arrives, after the swallow, but the finish flattens out rather than enhances

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with low carbonation]

Overall: I am not often let down by Fremont but I expected something more memorable with these adjuncts; Coconut is tricky and I have rarely been excited by a beer using that adjunct; I was hoping this would be one of those times when I enjoyed the coconut but it wasn't (I love coconut flavor, in general, and just had a coconut birthday cake, but I have just not had that many great coconut stouts.)

Poured at fridge temp. Pours midnight black with a solid inch of brown head. Nice looking beer. The nose is really interesting. Dominated by a mix of coconut and coffee (who could imagine?). I would say that the coffee dominates. It's a wonderful note for sure. Getting a bit of vanilla and walnuts as well.

The taste is super smooth. Wow. Vanilla, milk chocolate, loads of coffee, coconut galore, walnuts, roasted malts, lactose, cinnamon, ginger bread cookie, and almonds.

The mouthfeel is pretty thick and creamy. The aftertaste is almonds and coffee. Lovely beer!

Poured from a 16 ounce can dated 2-19-25 into a snifter at 53 degrees.

Look- Black, opaque, dark brown creamy head, above average head retention and lacing.

Smell- Coffee, coconut, cocoa, whiskey, oak, medium strength of scent.

Taste- Coffee, cocoa, coconut, whiskey, graham cracker, high strength of scent.

Feel- Medium body, slightly below average carbonation, highly bitter, moderately sweet, mildly mouth warming, mildly mouth coating, mildly creamy.

Overall- Black and opaque with above average head retention and lacing. Bouquet was a nice mix of coffee, coconut, cocoa, whiskey and oak at a medium strength. Flavor followed the nose, but had higher intensity. The body was thinner than desired. Also, the mouth coating properties could have been higher. Overall this was a very solid beer that provided a really good drinking experience.

sick to score this one on tap, and cool that they have been putting out some blends, this is smart and delicious, complex and coconut forward, bitter to balance the sweet, the right amount of coffee, bold as well. i think its neat that there is non barrel aged product in this too, a little lighter and maybe fresher, the bourbon as an accent not a lead note, although i would call it readily identifiable in this, subtle vanilla is so good with the coffee aspect. some head on this, mocha colored, high shine and black liquid, significant viscosity but not overly enormous looking, some bubbles working in that direction as well. some real bitterness from the coffee and the roast, seems like the coffee is a rather dark roast in this too, dark chocolate, char from the barrel, a hint of licorice or something, trace smoke too, and thats true of both the aroma and the flavor, although to me i think there is more coffee in the nose and more coconut in the taste. the coconut is toasted for sure, caramelized and sweetened tasting, nice balance with the stout intensity, some spice on the back end as it warms with the alcohol, like almost a cinnamon note in the whiskey part, oak and vanilla without it being overly decadent, its still very bitter. maybe the coffee is getting a tad stale here, but it still does a lot of good in this. lots of body but i taste it almost fully new each sip, its lighter than their fully barrel aged huge stouts, but equally refined and complex. i love the coconut aspect, its forward without dominating things, and the blend overall is exceptional. great beer, sturdy and nuanced, warms up favorably, something i hope to drink again while its still around. this is right in their wheelhouse and they nailed it!

16oz can (packaged 2/18/2025) into a tulip. Pours a dark chocolatey brownish black with a 1-finger khaki/mocha head that settles to a thin film.

Aroma is sweet and nutty—toasted coconut is immediately evident, along with notes of vanilla, caramel, and bitter roasted malt. Black coffee on the back end.

Taste follows nose pretty closely. Coconut and coffee lead the way, followed by soft vanilla and caramel. Good balance between bitter and sweet.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, like all these Fremont cuvée offerings, which is just fine by me. You get a lot of the flavor of the big barrel-aged stuff in a less overpowering package. Lingering aftertaste, courtesy mostly of the coffee.

Overall a solid, drinkable imperial porter/stout/American strong ale.

Poured into a tulip glass a very nice dark brown/black color, with some very nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger plus tan head, which also leaves a very nice medium size oil slick, and some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is very nice, malty, hoppy, with a very nice touch of dark chocolate/toffee/coffee, very nice bourbon/oak note, coconut, vanilla, with some licorice, The taste is very nice, malty, hoppy, with a very nice touch of dark chocolate/toffee/coffee, very nice bourbon/oakyness, very nice vanilla sweetness, coconut, licorice. Full Body, ABV is hidden very nicely, a very tasty complex brew, very nice sipper. Overall, this is a very tasty brew.

16oz can from Fremont, doing a happy dance that I don't have to take out a payday loan for the wax-topped 22oz bomber...pours like an Imperial Stout with a massive mocha-colored head of tight bubbles. Sweetened coffee, massive amounts of mocha, and spirit barrel lead the way on the nose...the coconut profile is there too, along with vanilla and even impressions of maple and caramel with the coffee and chocolate. Bold cold brew combined with coconut and whiskey...liked it a lot!

Pours an effervescent mahogany/ebony with one finger of mocha colored head. Below average head retention & better lacing, plenty viscous

S: Coffee, upfront, then coconut, some vanilla late. Coffee sticks around, but mostly coconut & a little fig & Maple Candy late

T: Follows the nose with a boozy edge, vanilla, a little toffee & woody hops on the edges up front. Toasted coconut asserts itself once warmed up, along dialed back coffee, vanilla & a little molasses & oaky barrel presence. Finishes with coconut & vanilla sweetness, oaky & woody dryness, some figgy notes & a touch of cola

MF: Medium body, pretty firm carbonation. Getting a little warmth & barrel, carbonation pushes the flavors

Well put together offering, toasted coconut is dominating & that is fine by me. Drinkable as can be, much to love here

From a 4-pack picked up at Big Head's Bottle Shop in Missoula, MT
16oz can poured into a Baerlic Belgian-style tulip

P black w/ a small tan cap; quick to med recession
N med-bold to bold nose; reminiscent of Rusty Nail; chocolate, booze, nuttiness, coffee, and licorice; lots going on here- really inviting
T a bit different from nose; smooth cocoa, nutty coffee, and light coconut, with a bit of grassiness in the fin; nicely balanced and cohesive; light booze/barrel as it opens; ever so slightly warming
Mf med to med-full bodied w/ soft-med to med carb; light to moderately creamy and super smooth
O was hoping for more coconut (as I always am), but this was a solid offering nonetheless; great nose, tasty profile, and good drinkability for style/abv
