Imperial Winter Ale Aged in Rum Barrels with Toasted Coconut
Three Years Ago, we aged B-Bomb in two Rum Barrels and walked away. Behold the release of Coconut Rum B-Bomb. Aged for 3 years in white oak Rum Barrels and then rested on toasted coconut, notice the distinct rum, coconut, toffee, and dark coffee notes from its barrel aging and barrel blending. Each barrel contributes a different note. Combining each barrel to create a coherent tone is a distinct art and true pleasure. Please do enjoy this unique barrel-aged ale today but know that Coconut Rum B-Bomb will age gracefully for at least another 5 years. Don’t Be Afraid To Be Abominable.
Down & Dirty: 2-Row Pale, Crystal-120, Munich, Roast Barley,Carafa-2, and Chocolate malts with Columbus, Willamette, andUS Goldings hops, and toasted coconut.
ABV: 16.1%
IBU: 50
Color: Deep black, opaque
Aromas of molasses, chocolate, and cola come forward first, supported by vanilla and sweet dried fruit notes like fig and raisin. The additional time in barrels brings more noticeable whiskey, oak, and leather tones. The flavor follows with moderate sweetness and a long, warm finish. Full-bodied with medium carbonation and a pronounced but smooth alcohol warmth.
Availability: Late-November 2025, limited
Fresh Range: This beer will age gracefully through 2026 and beyond!

This one pours a dark-ish brown, almost black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells quite toasty and oaky, with bourbon, maple, pumpernickel bread, spiced rum, toasted and sweet coconut, and chocolate.
Bourbon Abominable always lies in this interesting semi-barleywine adjacent realm, being more chocolatey than a barleywine, and usually just feeling kind of toasty, befitting the winter ale vibe. Coconut and rum both go well with that flavor profile, adding wonderful spiced oak character, and a nice toasty and creamy coconutty sweetness.
This is medium bodied, warming but not very boozy, with a nice drinkability.
This is really tasty and unique little twist on a very classic strong ale.

Brownish black opaque body with a large light brown head. Smell captures the rum barrel and coconut right away with big toffee, malts, leather, vanilla, raisin, plum, and coffee bean. Taste adds molasses and more of an oak emphasis and less coffee, but otherwise the same, it just swirls and melts together, wow. The feel is warm and full without being heavy, has a little chew to go with the deep rum barrel character, goes down easy for the ABV. This is peak, summer strong ale, or in our case dreaming of summer when it is still cooler

3.75mL bottle (2025) into a tulip. Pours a deep reddish-brown mahogany with a thin khaki head that settles to a ring around the side of the glass.
Aroma is that big boozy malty fruity complexity that we’ve come to expect from the B-Bomb family of beers, but the rum definitely takes center stage here. Coconut is present too, and what results is a tempting, complex, rich, dessert-like aroma that warmly invites the first sip.
Taste leads off with a dense, chewy, fruity sweetness followed closely by a boozy heat. Toffee, clove, brown sugar, rum, and coconut all swirl on the palate along with subtle notes of vanilla, marshmallow, and sticky figs. As it warms, hints of chocolate-covered cherries. Delicious.
Mouthfeel is sticky and chewy, heavy, palate-coating. Appropriate for the style.
Overall this is a home run, and might just give my other favorite B-Bomb variant—coffee cinnamon—a run for its money. Outstanding.

Look - Pours a dark black color with a fairly nice head that sticks around a minute or two.
Smell - Bourbon and malt with a light cacao and coconut scent.
Taste - Rum, malt, bourbon, leather, with barely a hint of coconut,
Feel - Nicely carbonated, very easy drinking for a 16.1%ABV stout.
Overall - I very slightly prefer this to the regular Coconut B-bomb, as the rum gives it a little extra flavor.
