Transcribed from my beer diary tasting notes, September 18th visit, ten ounce pour.
Served on draft at the source, apparently this one will not see any distribution, which is a shame. Pours jet black, quick eighth of foamy head which soon becomes a layer of oily lacing. Aroma is of fresh cold-brewed iced coffee. Bit of malt and maple on the nose, but the coffee really dominates.
Taste is coffee driven. Light toasted malt in the middle, and a very healthy hit of maple syrup at the back of the mouth. A great, no, wonderful taste. Overall flavor balance is perfect. Big syrupy body. Carbonation is on the crisp side for the style, but still fantastic. Finish is slightly dry, but not overly so. No evidence of booze, which is impressive at 9.5%. So very enjoyable.
Very smooth. A bit of maple smokiness developed as this came to temp.
