Son of Sapping Mammoth was born of a collaboration with our friends at Half Acre in 2014. This IPA has since become as legendary as the creature that first graced its label. With friendship in mind, the recipe has been refreshed to feature locally grown grains from Blue Ox and Maine Malt House.
Bright tropical fruit (pineapple, guava), citrus (lemon, grapefruit), grassy, onion/garlic.
Citra, Cryo Citra, Mosaic, Centennial, HBC 522 Briess 2-Row, Pilsner (Maine Malt House), Red Wheat (Blue Ox), Vyenna (Blue Ox

Light golden color, small head. Grainy aroma. Lots of bready cereal flavors, resinous hops. Very British IPA like. Decent.

Straw yellow in color with little to no cloudiness. Small, white head. Head leaves a little small head. Nose is pine and citrus with a partial breadiness. Taste was full on hop greatness! Mide to moderate bitterness.

Soo clean! A very light bodied, crystal grainy first sip. Crazy, fluffy and chunky head. Love the lively vibe of MBC. Dry, earthy, slightly citric hop follows with a highly drinkable approach. The light, zippy grainy malt is really the highlight.

Purchased cold 9-days ago, kept cold until served. Poured to a pretentious tulip-like glass from a 500ml bottle dated 11:06:25.
The body is an almost clear straw color, SRM 3. The pure white head is rather small (0.5in/13mm) for an aggressive pour. However this head initially covers the glass on tilt to over 80% coverage. Even ⅔ through, lacing is pretty strong, but more spider-like.
The aroma of this beer is heavy on the citrus with some floral background.
The flavor is a big hit with me. Citrus front followed by a brief pine wack and a complex finish of those first flavors but with the floral effect capping it off. Gradually my mouth dried out significantly with a lingering orange rind sensation. Alcohol is undetectable in taste.
Mouthfeel is medium to light as is the carbonation.
A great beer overall.

Pours a pale golden lightly hazy. Heavier than chill haze but not even touching the murky depths of a NEIPA. Nice bright white head retention. I get hints of pineapple and minty on the nose. Some pineapple and minty on the palate. Maybe even menthol-y. It's super light. Comes across more like a Peeper than a Lunch. Super delicate feeling. I am enjoying this.

Really solid - pours soft, slightly opaque yellow with a dense, bubbly head. Aromas are very tropical - pineapple, guava, and passionfruit up front with some grassy notes. The taste is similar, with pineapple and guava coming in most prominently, followed by lemon, shortbread, very subtle malt, and some herbal notes. Super smooth - was expecting a dense mouthfeel for something with "sap" in the name, but it finishes easy without coating your mouth.

Pale yellow body with mild cloudiness; dense carbonation; thick head, white and long-lasting, dense with a creamy, rocky cap; thick rings of foam mark each sip. Mild lemongrass nose; soft malt aroma. Wonderful flavor; light biscuit tones; easy going hop bitterness. Medium body; smooth and velvety on the palate; light, powdery dryness.
What an fine India pale ale. Well-balanced and very, very easy drinking.
ABV: 6.5%; pouring temperature: 55.6 °F; bottling info: 28OCT25
