Notes:
With an upgrade to our test batch system, including the temperature control necessary to ferment a quality lager, Jon got to work test batching his Pilsner with Grüngeist hops. And after a long search for a nice clean, clear, crisp lager with that Maine Beer Co. hop profile, it has finally arrived as our newest release, Black Barn Program No. 4. The perfect end to a hard day’s work. Cheers!

pours out a brilliant straw color, bright white head.
aromas are of honeyed grains, herbaceous green note and a hint of spice. palate follows with honeyed grains throughout, crisp white cracker malt, some mellow fruityness of lemon, citrus peel, beautiful floral and herbaceous hoppy character keeps this one so crisp. immensely light, clean, drinkable - quintessential summer beer. everything just feels right with this one, a perfectly executed pils.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle dated 6/21/19 into the test glass.
A - Excellent clarity, forsythia in color, steady carbonation feeds a quick to leave cap.
S - Lemon peel, cut grass, floor malt really nice nose.
T - Follows the aromatics quite well, a narrow band of Pilsner malt with floral hops, in perfect balance.
M - Lite on the palate, crisp in contact with the tongue, semi sweet with a snappy dry finish
O - A very good pilsner, finely executed. Balance between the malts and the herbal hops is spot on.
Worth every effort to find

16oz bottle poured into a snifter.
A: Sunny golden color with perfect clarity. Fine-bubbled white head stubbornly holds at one finger in height and never relents. Chunky lacing clings everywhere.
S: Cracked black pepper, lemon rind, white grapefruit, very limey. Floral too. Clean as hell. Light whiffs of grain.
T: Limey hops up front. Floral, pithy, and easy. White grapefruit and tangelo. Bone dry. Perfectly clean. Biscuit and cracker pilsner malt base. Bitterness is stiff but easy. Peppery hops on the finish.
M: Light bodied with a firm feel and soft creaminess. Blast of acutely scrubbing carbonation. Some gripping hop astringency.
O: Pretty great. Perfectly clean and easy; the fermentation was nailed. The pilsner base is done perfectly, and provides a great canvass for the unique hop flavors at play. This was one of those super enjoyable beers that left my glass way faster than it should've.

Decent tasting beer - had directly at the new brewery facility. Wasn't particularly amazing, but love the motive of the brewery and the new facility which is amazing. Either way a solid beer.
