Poured from a 16.9 oz bottle into a tulip glass.
Pours a deep brown color with 2 fingers of effervescent caramel head. The head leaves a great amount of cobweb lacing before settling into a thick blanket.
The aroma brings notes of cherry cola, black licorice, milk chocolate, and roasted almonds. There's some subtle coffee in the middle followed by a bit of bread on the back end.
The flavor brings notes of roasted malts, sweet milk chocolate, brown sugar, and black licorice. This is followed by some more subtle notes of caramel, char, and coffee. The finish is ever so faintly hoppy.
The feel is medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Exceptionally creamy and smooth. The alcohol is non-existent. The only downside is the carbonation, otherwise perfect.
Overall, this is a great imperial stout that I truly hope makes it into the regular rotation. I haven't been a big fan of MBC's darker beers, outside of King Titus, but this one proves they can do the style well.
