Appearance: Pours coffee colored with a bubble show that builds a full three-finger head; strong retention and clumps of lace
Smell: Pumpernickel, Baker's chocolate, herbal tea and grassy notes
Taste: Crusty pumpernickel and Baker's chocolate forward with a developing herbaceous aspect; tea and grassy notes emerge, in the middle with a sharpness in the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate to high carbonation
Overall: Not my favorite Schwarzbier but certainly noteworthy
