The right thing was done and the entire contents of a brown one pint and .9 fluid ounce bottle were emptied into a clear glass liter mug. It's generously carbonated, yet there's little sustained tan head. The liquid is basically black coffee brown, although there are stouts that are blacker. No need to repeat the brewer's description of its aroma, although it's less pronounced than expected. This also drinks more thinly than expected and although the anticipated flavors are there in good balance, they are also there in lighter fashion than expected. Overall, the tastes are much more subtle and the mouthfeel is thinner than many stouts in this neighborhood of ABVs. Yet, it is refreshingly drinkable and not overly effervescent on the tongue. That it's not a dessert beer adds to its appeal. There's no glass lacing and the 7.5 % isn't unrecognized, but it doesn't hurt the overall. On its own, this isn't a bad Stout. Its exclusivity may earn it higher ratings than it deserves.
