Maine Audubon’s annual Loon Count provides a snapshot of Maine’s loon population that helps scientists and lawmakers conserve Maine loons and lakes. For 30 minutes, once a year, volunteers arrive early on the water to count one loon, after another one, after another one. The count is one way Maine Audubon measures the progress in protecting native wildlife.

Aromas of pineapple, mango, and guava with notes of orange, grapefruit, and melon. Undertones of earthy, woody pine, and faint onion and garlic.

Hops: Cascade, Citra, Simcoe

Malt: American 2-Row, Red Wheat, Carapils

It's cloudy lemon-amber with a modest white head, now residing in a clear pint glass mug, after being decanted entirely from a brown bottle once containing 19.2 fluid ounces. Its aroma is of a sharp hoppy bite, complex enough to have notes of pine and citrus. So much for the nose. The taste is good, but with far less hoppy bite than expected. Of course, there's more there than would be acceptable to a drinker that doesn't like IPAs, but after the aromatic tease, the taste is a letdown to those that do. There's no sharp bite to taste, whether at the onset, nor more surprisingly during the finish. Without any appreciable malt contributions, the overall flavor is disappointing. Perhaps for the ABV, the mouthfeel is light and clean, without bringing a negative focus on the relatively high AVB, but that's the best to be said. Overall, it's nearly devoid of the hop bite and malty earthiness that is expected from a great IPA. Even the glass lacing is scant, like the flavor inclusion of the body. Then, on the positive side, there's some hopping, mostly contributing to a citrusy note, but not much more. Overall, this is a disappointing effort from a very good brewery.

Pours hazy blonde / gold with a thin, lacy head. The nose is pungent with aroma of pineapple and guava practically wafting across the room. The taste is tropical up front with hints of the aforementioned as well as naval orange followed by some woody undertones. There is a slight medicinal / anise sort of taste on the finish that's putting me off a bit, but overall it's solid and well-rounded.

Appearance: Pours a slightly cloudy goldenstraw with a two finger head; solid retention with clumps of lacing

Smell: Resinous aromatics with pine and grassy notes

Taste: Biscuit malt undertones with earthy and grassy hop flavors building; a touch of sweetness, particularly in the finish but the overall profile is moderately bitter

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: When you just want a good old-fashioned East Coast IPA (a style I haven't heard mentioned in forever) this is a darn good example

Glass into Nonic Pint (Bottled

Look: Light hazy straw yellow body, pouring a 1.5 finger, creamy, white head which slowly dissipated
Smell: Guava and mango, very earthy, piney, orange. Oniony and garlic is there too. Weakish nose
Taste: Bright citrus and tropical fruit. Pineapple, sweet guava, orange and grapefruit zest. Backend brings in the pine and strong earthy hops. Light bitterness. Finish has a nice mellow malt, orange and a that earthy garlicy onion
Feel: Where the beer shines. Light-medium bodied, gentle-moderate carbonation, smooth texture. Dry
Overall: Amazing beer, very earthy and interesting with that onion/garlic note. Amazing feel

500 mL bottle into a nonic pint glass

Cloudy, orangesicle appearance, sudsy lacing everywhere.

Grapefruity nose, rindy and grassy. Flavors are citrusy, a little juicy and with a nice crackery malt-character. Chewy complexion, long finish with bittersweet residuals.

Yellow straw pale, hazy, with light able to shine through. Soapy white lacing on the glass. Nose is guava, grapefruit, pine, clean. Taste follows with some fruit, citrus, pith towards the beginning followed by pine, ending on clean bitterness. Mouthfeel is very nice, clean, thin almost in a good way, champagne like. This is making me remember that "brut IPA" thing that happened a few years ago, but I like this better than any of those, and it's not exactly what I remember those being, just saying it's somehow reminiscent of how I remember some of those.

A - Pale orange-yellow with haziness, but not opaque, white head, short and quick fade to a thin cap. Extensive lacing.

S - Pungent citrus, grass and hop spiciness, with a bit of earth and limestone.

T - Open of bright citrus, orange, tangerine, and grapefruit, a middle brings cracker and earthy spice, and mild pithy bitterness through the close.

M - Dry open, light weight, decent carbonation, clean finish.

O - Mighty tasty, clean and clear, with tart acidity. Delicious.

Look: straw, cloudy, sudsy/soapy head, nice lacing rings
Smell: woody, piney, citrusy, orange
Taste: pineapple, mango, orange, guava, grapefruit, piney, citrus rind
Feel: med light body, lower carbo, citrus rind bitterness
Overall: 7% abv. The lighter body and lower carbonation are a bit of a letdown but this beer rallies with citrusy flavors of pineapple, orange, mango, guava and pineapple. Really nice. Now where this brew really shines is when the citrus rind bitterness takes over. Hell yeah. I was really getting into it when, damn! I finished it. Should have bought two. Pair this tasty gem up with Another One Bites the Dust by Queen and enjoy.

Delicious, classy IPA. Golden color. Big, white head. Resinous hops and malt in aroma. Strong but not overwhelming, hoppy bitterness with a malty background.

Another One is an excellent IPA that gets everything right. Mango, pineapple, grapefruit, and some pine needles to balance out the fruits. Bitterness and moderate resin bring up the rear. Enjoyable and a benchmark for what an IPA should be as a whole.

I had this on draft 2/20/25 @ the Hopleaf.

Semi-opaque orange/yellow appearance.

Nice off-white head; strong lacing remained.

Pineapple, dank ganja & faint body odor funk notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel with a sharp bite on the finish.

Pineapple & dry ganja flavors up front; dry lemongrass notes on the finish.

Bold and a bit too dry; it's worth a quaff but would never be an every day sipper for me.
