Belgian Strong Dark ale or Quadrupel or a particular Barley Wine?
A wonderfully balanced beer in its complexity
Dark, impenetrable. With dark brown reflections only on the surface. Minimal foam that fades while remaining pale on the surface state.
Warm, dense beer, full and round body.
In the mouth toasted and caramelized malts, dried fruit, plums, chestnuts, dark chocolate, tobacco.
Many nuances for this beer that has always been a flagship of this "great" but "Micro" Italian brewery.

Dark brown color with fairly creamy tan head. Aroma has sweet caramelized sugar, almond extract, rum, vanilla extract, slightly boozy overall. Taste is bittersweet with the malt sweetness and brown sugar popping first but afterwards you get a good amount of roasty bitterness. Alcohol warms the inside of the chest. Medium body and carbonation. Too boozy for my taste.

From a 330ml bottle.
L: Dark brown (almost black). Ruby red when held to the light. Small head disappears quickly leaving no trace. No carbonation visible. Looks like a flat cola.
S: Smell is sweet, like confectionary. There's an almost medicinal edge plus a rush of alcohol.
T: Treacle, peanut brittle, fruit cake, molasses. Overpowering after a few mouthfulls.
F: Sweet & rich. Very, very rich. Coats the mouth. Boozy. A little fizz of carbonation.
O: It's a sipper. But it's too heavy for me. Becomes cloying and a bit of a drag. The nose is excellent but the sweetness is too much.

Pours very dark brown with a small head.
Nose shows burnt figs, rich caramelised bready malt, brown sugar, toasty melanoidin malt. Very rich.
Equally rich flavours, with toasty and bready melanoidin malt, golden syrup and some burnt, almost roasty, dark sugary fruit. Also some subtle booze.
Nice creamy carbonation works perfectly.

Pours dark brown with a small tan head which turned to film rather quickly. Aroma is of dark fruit, raisin bread, sweat fruit cake, cola, and tobacco. Tastes similar of rich dark fruit and nut bread. Bit of coffee and cola, clean aftertaste and not as strongly flavored as the aroma would have suggested. The palate is medium bodied with decent carbonation, could be softer and smoother but nice none the less. Overall a good example of the style from a brewery that I have enjoyed every brew I have been lucky enough to get my hands on.
