Pours a coffee colored black/brown. Not entirely opaque, and much more like a porter than a stout. Very little head that reduces to just a ring around the top.
No hiding the coffee here. This bottle was purchased over a year ago and the alcohol is still noticeable in the nose. This isnt very complex in the nose.
Coffee and cocoa come out nicely. Not much else to find in this. Slightly oxidized with a faint metallic taste, like it might be past its prime.
Thin, slightly watery, low but adequate carbonation.
I should have drank this sooner but it sat in the back of the fridge for over a year. I vaguely recall having this at the Open Baladin brewpub in Rome, and recall enjoying it quite a bit. This bottle is just so-so.

A - Poured medium brown and settled very dark brown with thin layer of light brown head. Somewhat lighter than expected.
S - Big bitter coffee aroma up front. Some lighter roast, brown sugar and vanilla. 3.5
T - Bitter dark roasted coffee up front with some roast, nutty flavours and a very slight funky thing going on. Some sweet chocolate in finish. This one didn't come together very well for me. The flavours were not nearly as robust as I would expect for 8.5% ABV and that slight funky presence really threw me off.
M - Light to medium body. A little too thin and watery. Moderate carbonation.

Bottle: Poured a clear light brown color ale with a nice foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light aromatic coffee and some light roasted malt. Taste is also a mix of light roasted malt with nice notes of aromatic coffee. Body is too thin for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Lacking complexity and body to complete with the great from this style.
