Sometimes one buys things on a whim without knowing what one is getting into. For example, I thought I was picking up a regular amber ale. Instead, I got a spiced beer with a high ABV(10%) whose alcohol content is barely noticeable.
Pours a dark amber color with traces of red. Carbonation is visible. A fingernail length bubbly head dissipates and leaves a thin collar.
The big surprise is the aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg and other assortments of autumn like spices. Not sure if they put pumpkin in this, but it surely smells like a pumpkin ale.
The taste is sweet at first, redolent of pumpkin pie, stone fruit, and a gummy malt mouthfeel. The nutmeg and cinnamon are dominant without overwhelming. The sweetness let’s up significantly as the flavor develops a subtle tartness that emits flavors of cherries and red grapes. The alcohol becomes slightly detectable in the finish and has a drying effect. Yet, it is not boozy in the slightest.
Medium bodied, not heavy, and quite drinkable fir the high ABV. No alcohol warming is detectable. Midway there is a vinous quality that reminds me of fermented spiced fruit.
Interesting beer, albeit not something I can see myself drinking too often.

Growler into pint glass Pours a gorgeous deep, clear amber with a tan head. Initial impression is whiskey and spice - VERY nice (Sorry.) Alcohol is well hidden. Nice malt backbone. Relatively heavy mouthfeel; light carbonation. Surprisingly dry finish with an oddly chemical aftertaste.

I was shocked I liked this! If I hadn't been told I would not have noticed how strong this brew is. I am planning on visiting the brewery tomorrow, and had a chance to try this beer on tap beforehand. Is there head? I don't see one. Is the beer lacing on the glass? Nope. Does it taste amazing? Yes!!

On tap at Lures Bar and Grille in Crownsville, MD. Described as "maltier, imperial version version of the amber with added nutmeg, all-spice and cinnamon whiskey." A tasty, malty amber ale with spices that are not too strong. I would definitely have this again given the opportunity.
