Poured into a 12 oz Snulip glass. Pours Avery dark near pitch black with a light brown head that leaves loads of thick lace behind.
Smell is cocoa nibs, coffee grounds, vanilla beans, toffee, caramel, and maybe some dark fruit.
Taste follows a very tasty dark chocolate and coffee starts the party, with vanilla, toffee, leather, tobacco, and a hint of anise.
Mouthfeel is pretty large, plenty of life for the style, a tad dry, and drinks like it should for its heft, maybe a bit larger.
Overall this is a very complex stout that will leave a mark on your palate, not one dimensional at all. Excellent stout thanks jzeilinger for this one.

A - Dark brown to black in color, lacing is thin and tan in color.
S - Toasted chocolate malt, light smokey char, a slight bit of coffee bean roast.
T - Dark chocolate roast from start to finish, light smokiness, delicate char,
M - Full body that's a little watery on the backside.
O - Not a standout but it's solid and that's the most important thing. And for the price? 'Can't be beat! Would buy again.

Undated bottle into pint glass. Pours a very dark brown with a thin light tan head. Initial impression is coffee, dark chocolate, and dark fruits. Mouthfeel is medium - just bordering on too thin for a RIS. Alcohol is fairly well hidden. Cellaring would probably smooth some of the rough edges, but I don't have the patience for cellaring. Not my favorite RIS, but certainly worth a try.

Pours a nearly pitch black color that is viscous and ink like. No head so to speak, just an ultra thin ring of lacing that quickly dissipates.
Nutty and cacao like aroma that carries a hint of raisins and cherries. A touch of molasses and maple syrup add sweetness. No booze in the nose, which I count as a good thing.
Full bodied but smooth and quite drinkable. The carbonation is gentle. The flavor starts of as lightly sweet, highlighting the malts, dark caramel, molasses, raisins and cherries. There is even a touch of tartness in the finish. Then, the drink begins to highlight the bitterness from the dark roasted malts that yield espresso beans flavors, as well as earthy hops. The finish becomes increasingly bitter and dry.
Bold and complex. What I like about this one is how well hidden the alcohol flavor is despite the high ABV. It is only evident in the firm of a moderate but pleasant warming. A spot on representation of the style.

Surprised this was not already listed on Beer Advocate
16 Mile describes this as a seasonal/LTD beer, but as far as I can tell it has been around in Fall/Winter maybe even Summer (?).
This may be the same recipe as Peter's Deptford Addiction as 16 Mile has changed beer names from time to time (RE: Harvest Ale becoming Tiller Brown Ale).
Bought in Growler on 4/25/16
Poured into a pint glass (2nd opening of Growler)
L: Pitch Black with a very fine film of white foam.
S: Espresso, with a mild alcohol smell
T: Dark, with mild dark chocolate and the flavor of malt, hides the alcohol content perfectly
Overall 16 mile wanted to recreate the original Russian Imperial and it tastes like they did so perfectly.
