Apparently the first in 16 Mile's "Heraldry Series," inspired by great moments in England's history. Ingredients include:
- Golden Ale barley to represent Wellington and the British army
- Belgian Golden yeast to represent the action of battle in Waterloo, Belgium
- N. German hops to represent the Prussian army that changed the tide
- Toasted French oak-soaked Napoleon brandy to represent the burnout of Napoleon after being fermented by the golden victory of Wellington's forces
Copper-colored pour, clear, with a frothy white head; moderate retention and lacing. Aroma was mild and malt-driven, toasted grains, light fruit esters, and a nice wood profile. Taste of crackery pale malts, brandy and white wine, oak, toasted grains, fruity Belgian yeast notes, earthy and herbal hops for a dry and slightly bitter finish. Light-medium body, some boozy warmth, but nothing too extreme, moderate carbonation. A pretty basic brew overall, but the brandied oak added a bit of welcome complexity.

Mini growler from the brewery.
Clear pale copper color, beautiful lacing. Ripe pears, dates, wood, mild booziness, herbal hop, cake batter, estery, shortbread and faint taffy make for a pretty complex nose. Smooth with a mild crisp pop, enough body to lift this brew up for the strength it is. Bready, ripe apples, spice, cherries, pepper alcohol, hay, slightly boozy, mildly tart from the yeast, almost vinous, warming spicy grainy finish that land semi-dry.
Impressive would be an easy word to use for this ... a bit of a mind blow as you really don't know what to fully expect here. A lot going on but not so complex that it takes away from the brew. Certainly one of the most interesting beers I have tasted this year. Great job 16 Mile.
