On tap at Tapwerks. Clear copper with an inch of fizzly white foam that settles to a sparse ring. Aroma is basically nonexistent - faint huskiness, whiff of fruity hops if I really stick my nose in the glass. The palate isn't really amped up much from the nose. Grainy pale malt, light caramel, light citric hop flavor (emphasis on the word light), soapy finish. Insipid beer doesn't benefit from a thin and watery mouthfeel, and this is the case with Doppelhopper. Disappointing would be saying it nicely. Nothing about this says DIPA.
Mustang has cut the balls off the DIPA style. If you want to brew "balanced" and "drinkable" beers stay away from brewing an inherently aggressive style. Stick to making your many permutations of low character golden and amber lagers. Not worth the calories or the ding to my liver.
