Big thanks to NASH for bottling this and to cjbmcdon for sending it my way. Shared with my wife with our supper which was barbecue chicken.
Poured from a label-less swingtop bottle (500ml.?) that is almost identical to the generic bottle image provided by BA.
Appearance: Pours a black body with tinges of brown and atop sits a huge dark mocha head that heavily cascades upwards. Looks gorgeous.
Smell: Very smoky, lots of wood character and smoked cheese. Reminiscent of a campfire.
Taste: Smoked wood, some cocoa and a coffee-like bitterness that tails off. I found the taste to be a little hard to grasp as the smokiness definitely prevailed.
Mouthfeel: Quite smooth with very low carbonation and a not quite full body.
Drinkability: No impediment and the taste is just enough to keep me interested.
Overall: I must admit to being a little underwhelmed. I thought it lacked a bit of complexity in the flavor department. My wife though liked it a lot and would have taken more. I liked it but it didn't really do it for me.
