A - Brownish amber color with a bit of white foam that left behind some nice lace.
S - Pine and citrus notes, strong malt backbone on this one.
T - Nice bittering on this one, some fruit notes and a bit of pine. Flavor is just not quite full enough on this one, although it is nice. A little bit oily and resiny in the taste.
M - Could use some more heft on the body, big carbonation.
D - An above average IPA that I would drink if it were available. Goes down easy.

Thanks to cjbmcdon for bringing these growlers to Chicago. I sampled this a few different times.
A - Pours with a finger of white foam that settles to a thin cap, leaving behind solid lacing. Lightly hazed brown body.
S - Pine, tropical fruits, some light astringent notes, and a hefty burnt sugar malt backbone. Even thought this is only 7.8% it is clearly a Double IPA in terms of malt/hop balance.
T - The bitterness is slightly astringent, with some big lemon and tangerine character to the initial wave of hops. The malt somehow drops out a lot in the flavor. Alcohol is well-hidden, as it should be for the lower ABV.
M - Somewhat thin body, moderate carbonation, extremely dry finish, with lots of oily hop resins left behind.
D - This goes down pretty easy, although the aspirin-like bitterness gets a bit off-putting. The final growler was suffering from some oxidation unfortunately.
I didn't like this as much as Citra SMaSH, or even Hop Mess Monster. I'd really like to try these beers on-tap though - I have a feeling they'd be significantly better.
