Pours a very dark ruby with fine tan head.

Smell is roasted and malty. Notes of dried fruit, brown bread, leather and tobacco.

Taste is rich, roasted and malty with a moderate bitterness. Notes of coffee, cacao, dried fruit, licorice and tobacco.

Mouthfeel is medium, smooth and well carbonated.

Overall, a very nice dark ale, flavorful but easy to drink.

500 ml bottle picked up at the brewery. Pours very dark ruby brown with small dense head, but no real lacing and certainly filtered. Nose is dried fruits and dusty earthy hops. Taste is malt-forward, with a very fruity appeal and roasted notes in the background. Mouthfeel was about right, although I'd really like to try this on cask. Overall, a good beer from an average brewery.

A - Dark ruby in colour, with a half-finger head.

S - Strong malts, dark fruit, brown sugar, and faint cake aromas.

T - Same as the smell, except much deeper, with some fruit tanginess along with punch of hops and some very minor alcohol heat.

MF - Medium with a small amount of carbonation and quite smooth.

O - Admittedly this isn't my most favorite style but this beer holds up very well all-considering, the smooth texture, deep & dark flavors make for decent drinkability.

Pours black with a small tan head.
Nose shows chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, prunes, golden syrup, brown sugar and bready malt. Pretty nice stuff.
Similar flavours with lots more roasted malt, chocolate, golden syrup and sweet, sugary dried fruit. A bit cloying, and there's an off-putting chalky/doughy note.
Body feels a little watery.

500ml bottle shared with Dad and poured into a small tumbler.

Pours a jet black with a lovely creamy tan coloured head of foam that reached an inch and settled above film with some streaking of the glass.

Smells initially of apricot and then strawberries, turning to dark chocolate and complex malt. Delicious!

Taste is slightly sweet and of malt with some chocolate. Still good, but not living up to the rest of the beer.

Mouthfeel is rich and creamy, coating the mouth and adding a touch of harness at the end which stops it becoming cloying.

Very impressed with this! A classy British ale that really delivers and something, despite its relative strength, that I could drink.many a pint of.
