Greenport Harbor IPA, growler purchased at Whole Foods Bowery, NYC.

Appearance: Served in a Sierra snifter, comes with a dark amber-orange color, hazy, opaque. Very carbonated and bubbly, produces a massive two-finger head of a tanned color, very frothy that recedes into one finger. Good retention, some lacing.

Smell: Lots of hops, then malts, then sweet bread and biscuits. Toasted coconut, some citrus. More of an Amber/APA maybe?

Taste: Mild but persistent bitterness, very dry (and slightly unpleasant) finish. A bit too malty. Some spices.

Mouthfeel: Incredibly dry, very bread-y. Those hops sting the mouth in a not-so-nice way. Have some water nearby!

Drinkability: Drinks easy, but I'm not loving it. Not what I expect from an American IPA.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

was able to get a growler of this beer over at bierkraft this is my favorite style of beer right now so lets give it a shot

oooh sweet stick malt goodness and then hops laced over it the beer had a great head nice and foamy stayed all the way down

darn this beer has such a great aroma of hops in it and the malt underneath it was deeper and richer than most ipas it almost was like a deep ipa red ale but i am not complaining for sure all i know is it was delicious

resin beer and citrus also a mint and basil flavor like some crazy tropical fruit or even a curry flavor wow exception beer

full bodied mouthfeel good carbonation

i definitely will be trying more of the greenport beers this one was great

Had on tap at the brewery during a hot September afternoon, great hop notes right off the head. Minimal malt balance and strong hop power throughout. Not much citrus depth but some pine notes are persistent. Good drinkability if you are a hop head but watch out for the 6.5% abv.

A: The beer is clear amber in color and poured with a thin layer of lacy patterns of bubbles covering the surface. No carbonation is visible.
S: There is a moderate aroma of citrusy and piney hops in the nose.
T: The overall taste has a very good balance between the hops and the underlying malts, which results in a mild amount of bitterness. There are notes of citrus flavors.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and does not have any stickiness.
D: The beer is very easy to drink.

Had on tap at the brewery in Greenport. It was the bottom of the keg so take this for what its worth. Brownish, copper color with really thick head. The aroma is a little piney hop and the taste is a pretty balanced in terms of hops and maltiness.

The beer itself is fine but unremarkable. If you aren't heavy into IPAs it is probably adequate but its not something I think a hop head is going to be reaching for. Its well made and worth a try but I don't think I'm gonna reach for this again. Their other beers are much better!

On tap at the Double Windsor bar in Bklyn, NY. Arrived clouded darker honey amber, typical medium tan head, that stayed, leaving stringy lacing. The nose is just a faint whiff of resiny hops. Respectable, enjoyable, quality and easy drinking IPA. Moderate hop presence, grainy and resiny in character. Nothing special, but worth a try. Decent effort by GPHBC

This is a decent IPA with a 6.2% ABV. The beer uses crystal and pale malts and a combination of Chinook, Cascade, and Centennial hops. The beer is an amber color with a decent creamy head. The nose is slightly piney hop, not overly assertive. The taste is very respectable, fairly well balanced, with a nice hop profile and a malty middle that complements the hop notes. There is nothing not to like in this IPA. Next to their porter, this is the second best beer offered at this brewery.

~ Purchased this 32 oz growler from Big Z Beverage in Huntington, NY. The pour is dark brown with an attractive frothy white head that lingers around for a while. Aromas are of pine/citrus hops, and caramel malt. Taste is very similar to its smell. The finish is bitter. Disorient is everything a good quality IPA should be. It's well-balanced, tasty, and easily drinkable.

Pours a cloudy dark amber orange to brown color with an off white/tan 1/4 inch head, leaving good lacing; smells of hops, both floral and pine, citrus and some faint malt, but mostly hops.

Tastes like it smells with strong hop flavor, again both piney hops and floral hops, citrus (grapefruit, orange peel, lemon), some sweetness from malt, grass, subtle spices and some light bread flavor. It has a nice crisp balance between the hop flavor and malt sweetness that tingles a little based on the variety of hops and oily and spicy feel to the brew that get stronger towards it's finish.

Medium carbonation with a dry finish, this beer is all about the hops and it delivers as a very tatsy IPA. It ends with a little pucker and a very nice taste that left me looking forward to the next sip; fortunately I had a growler and was able to quench my thirst with this delicious brew. Glad this new and very good IPA is home to Long Island!
