This review is partially from notes taken at the tasting room, and partially from a growler that sat in the fridge for about 48 hours. The stainless steel growler that I used seems to maintain the freshness quite well.
A moderate pour from the growler into a shaker pint produces a creamy, frothy, white head of about an inch. This settles quickly but leaves some nice sticky lacing. The beer is a hazy pale golden with low carbonation. It has a bit of a greenish tinge too.
The aroma is quite yeasty with some general tangy funk and just a touch of a light fruity note that shows up in the flavor as well. The flavor is otherwise bready and grainy, with a good bit of earthy bitterness to balance out some sweetness. The aftertaste is fairly clean. It has a frothy mouth feel.
This is a very good, thirst quenching brew but I'm not sure, with its obvious fruity and yeasty characteristics, that it's really true to style. I don't know that this beer was actually fermented at lagering temperatures. It reminds me of a cream ale more than anything. Nevertheless, it's a decent thirst quencher, fairly clean and light, and well worth a try.
