The appearance of the place is rather interesting. The outside doesn't seem to fit the interior very well. Then I overheard another bar patron (wearing a white and purple Favre jersey which I really enjoyed) say that he had been going there since it was a Tumbleweeds. That made everything make sense. Everything was just repainted pretty much.
As you enter you're greeted by a long bar with an opposing bar area on one side that features outdoor screened-in seating for the warm months. On the other side of the wall that the bar is backed by is the dining area. Open and some what sprawling with an awkward decor. There are some tv's aross the top of the bar giving it a semi-sports-bar feel.
I sat at the bar which had 10 taps and a bunch of bottles. The bottles were mainly the run-of-the-mill stuff like BMCs plus Miller Chill, Corona, New Belgium bombers, and a few other things here and there. 3 taps were their own beer which is contract brewed based on their recipe through Lakefront. The beer was fresh and they had a variety of different styles to choose from. My surprise came when the bartender asked why I was taking notes and the chef came over and said they had Arrogant Bastard Bombers. I thought that was pretty cool. They also had a few glasses for beer - Stella on tap with the proper glassware. Not for everything but enough to be a bit above the American Tumbler curve.
The service was great and they we're really friendly. Both the chef and the bartender were good conversationalists and the bartender was on the ball for everyone's beer.
I didn't try any food but I payed $6 for three 7-ish oz. tap pours of their beer. Not too shabby. Not worth returning for me as it's a bit out of the way but if you find yourself in the area their IPA is the best of the house beers.
