Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- It closely resembles cola in colour though post-pour it retains some pale tan foam on top. Pretty necked bottle, that makes that satisfying loud glugging noise as you pour.
S- Roasty-toasty.
T- Very toasty indeed, not much malt on it's bones and into a rather thin/hoppy-dry finish. ps. as it later warms a bit I begin to register some dark malt.
F- It's pungent and over towards the dry side. CO2 is noticable in the mouth though unlike infused tap-stouts it feels in balance/appropriate.
O- It comes over as more trad than anything novel, a plus. It's a pungent tasting stout/porter-like beer that's *relatively* lighter on malts. Certainly drinkable, should work well for fans of stout/porter.
Review2017/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the bottle lables to see what I missed! ==> Heavy on commercially driven spray-on heritage. 'The Othello'. 'Shakespeare Brewing Co' + 'Stratford Upon Avon' across the front lable; from the rather more prosaic source: 'North Cotswold Brewery' in Moreton-in-Marsh, Glos., about 20miles from Stratford.
500ml bottle BB: 01/2023 Bought from Oxford Wine Company, Little Clarendon Street, Oxford.
