This medium bodied honey brown ale was originally brewed to celebrate the new millennium. It's brewed with roasted grains and local mesquite honey for a unique Southwest flavor.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a brown color with a bar pour’s kind of slim head. The smell had a light sweet honey and then a roasty and woody spicy aroma (mesquite perhaps). The taste took the honey and the woody spiciness and let in a light toasted grain and caramel. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable quality to it. On the tongue, it came across with a light tingle of spice but still letting the honey come in as well. Overall, pretty good brown ale that had a little more going on than other brown ales I’ve had. I’d have this again.

This beer is brought to me fresh from the tap with a frothy, lightly browned, tan colored head that starts out about a quarter-finger in thickness. The beer is a dark, opaque brown color that shows brilliantly clear, dark, amber brown notes around the edges. The aroma has a lightly sweet, caramelized malt notes to it, which is followed by a toasted malty note.

The taste is fairly sweet with notes of caramel, toffee and a honey-like sweetness that melds deeply with the sweet, dark malt notes. A nice level of carbonation adds a bit of a bite and along with a light hop bitterness, helps to balance some of the sweetness. This has a really nice toffee like character to it and at times it even takes on flavors reminiscent of a cola (perhaps that mix of honey and dark malt is what creates this).

This is nice and easy drinking, the sweetness does give it a touch of a sticky mouth-coating quality, but it helps to make the honey quality noticeable (if this was dry, the honey character would be lost, as it is, it is still subtle). I want to not like this for some reason, ultimately I do though and would even try this again.
