This Belgian classic is made with about 40% wheat malt and unmalted wheat. Mt. Hood hops give a balance to the Bitter Orange Peel and Coriander Spice that are used to recreate this Belgian taste. Refreshing and different, you should experience this classic beer.

On tap at the Dragonmead Brew Pub.

Poured a medium and hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. Aromas of some bananas and cloves. Tastes of some bananas, cloves, and wheat. An average witbier that didn't leave a lasting impression - either bad or good.

At the brewery. Lots of lace on a cloudy medium yellow. Creamy. Bitter and I did not get the sourness or wateriness, no question they got their act together on this one and that's why it's released over a year later. Good for its style. That's why these dragons go boldly where no dragon has gone before.

On tap at the brewery pub.

Light gold colour, a little darker than straw yellow, hazy, with a thin white head. The aroma consisted of light hop spiciness, some coriander, and wheat grain. Flavour was composed of spice (mostly coriander), orangey citrus, and light bitterness. Overall, the flavour was quite weak. It was quite smooth, with light carbonation and a light body, but it turned out to be a bit watery at the finish. It ended quite clean and dry.

Not bad, but between the weak flavours and watery finish, it's a little timid.

Almost no haze at all to this golden-ish brew. Fluffy bright white head is "to specs," but I want to know that this sucker is alive and well. Just too clear. Coriander dominates the nose. Very silky feel to it -- some might say smooth, some might say limp. Lemon kicks it up a notch in the after taste. Slightly tart -- fake lemon juice or granny smith-ish. Another impressively good brew from these guys.

Not hazy at all (essential for a wit IMO.) Good, vibrant, yellow color. A good smack of coriander greets the nose and palate. Green apples and milk, surrounded by a soft, lazy fizz, lead up to a dry, minerally finish. Compared to Wittekerke, for example, this has less gas (-) but more coriander (+). Perfectly drinkable. Order this for your mom.

This Belgian white ale is not a bad representation of the style, but at the same time the flavors are quite light and well short of bold. The banana sweetness of the brew is the most noticeable property minus the tanginess of other white beers.
