On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Not sure if this really is a new recipe, or just a new name for the former Julebrygg (green label). Appears to me to be slightly softer and mellower than the Julebrygg, perhaps with more moderate spices, but difficult to say when I haven’t tasted them side by side. Anyway, Ylir is dark brown with a large off-white to beige head. Moderate but pleasant aroma of brown malts and Christmas spices, some caramel and possibly brown kandij sugar. The flavour is soft and well rounded, the Christmas spices are there, but not overdone. Notes of brown kandij sugar, but the beer is not too sweet. Moderate hops. A very drinkable and well made beer..

A - Deep cooper, barely any carbonation and almost no head
S - heavily spiced and clove-y smell
T - Lots of different spices. Maybe cinnamon but can't really figure the others out.... But finishes with a super bitter aftertaste, not typical for a christmas beer
M - Smooth and very drinkable
O - I would recommend it, just be ready for some interesting flavors!
