500 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4%. Deep golden to amber colour, large white head. Strong aroma of American hops, citrus and pine notes. Light to thin body, dry flavour, some grapefruity and piney notes, medium bitter finish. An okay summer refreshment, but clearly not Ægir’s best beer.

Deep rusty orange; a ton of orange Swedish fish with some toffee; copper penny and crunchy leaves, dried citrus rind that fades to a hint of grass, tingly + light with slight oil.

Promising nose, but suspiciously dark colour, which is telling: if the hops weren’t so American, this is malty enough to be a bitter. The open top can suggests gulping, which is certainly possible given the 4%. I’m just not sure why it’s called “Sitrus.” Pleasant enough, but points off for style.

Poured from 33 cL can into pint glass on fjord cruise.
A: Pours a hazy orange with 2 inch frothy off white head with excellent retention.
S: Lovely citrus aromas of orange, tangerine, grapefruit, and lemon with hints of kefir lime and mango. Very nice!
T: Follows aroma, but not quite as strong. Orange, grapefruit, lime, lemon, and hints of tangerine and mango.
M: Light body. Effervescent and refreshing. Lovely citrus sweetness with mild bitterness.
D: A surprisingly lovely citrus pale ale from a local brewery in Flam! Well done, Aegir!

Can. Dark golden amber. Thick dense head.
Hoppy pine smell. Some silage and mixed citrus aromas.
Grass like taste continues. Rather muted. Some biscuit. Light astringency.
Soft carbonation.
The taste lets down the aroma.

Pours clear dark orange, high wispy beige head. Smells of herbal clementines, spiced hops, and citrus bitterness. Taste is slightly malted citrus, watery clementine with a biscuity base. Normal carbonation, dry finish. Overall nothing special.

The liquid pours a dirty gold color. Nearly clear, just a bit of a chill haze. Starts with a half-finger head that settles quickly into rim bubbles. Some streaks and spots for lace.
The name suits the smell--lots of citrus (grapefruit rind) as well as pleasant floral hop and soft, lightly toasted malt. Excellent well-balanced aroma.
The taste comes across more one-sided as in lots of straight up hop (black peppery) bitterness. Long aftertaste that ends extremely dry almost astringent. Thinnish body, neutral carbonation.
This is the tale of a great smell and an over-hopped taste. Even if this was an IPA, I'd say there is too much of a good thing...and I'm a hop head! Still, this beer does NOT cross over into the extreme category, but it comes real close.

I felt it was just not a very pleasant flavor. I did not get any citrus despite that being in the name of the beer, and it was just straight bitter. I think Aegir (and other Norwegian breweries) are held back quite a bit by the 4.7% alcohol rule; it would be interesting to see what they could do with their everyday beers if not limited.
