On tap at Thirsty Whale in Bar Harbor w/ M&D. Syd's had more head but mine had a little more flavor. A twinge watery, but good if you're in the mood!

22 oz bottle poured into a mug. The appearance was a black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Light sliding lacing reared its face. The smell had a weak slightly roasty coffee but having a stale bready dried out yeasty aroma in and around my nose. The taste was basically the same thing. On the palate, it left that stale bready dried out yeasty aftertaste and finish. It sat about a light on the body with not much of a sessionability about it due to the weird taste. The carbonation seemed a bit under for this one, but it did leave a slight creamy texture rolling over my tongue. Overall, weird stout, I didn’t get the big chocolate that the description says was there. Honestly, I didn’t really dig this one.

Pint on draft at Nocturnem. Served in a nonic.
Appearance: Jet black with a one-finger head and that dissipates quickly.
Aroma: Chocolatey, coffee, burned toast, old leather notes.
Taste: Very coffee-forward with a strong chocolate note. Robust. Strong, solid body on this one. Roasted coffee beans. Dark malt. Slight milk-shakey character.
Mouthfeel: Velvet smooth. Classic stout profile. Not especially "demon"-like; more of a Guinness-like sipper.
Overall: Excellent stout from this brewery, which I always confuse with Orono Brewing. A great under-the-radar beer.

One of my favorite Stouts because I have been drinking it for so long. Very good for it's smooth quality and chocolate/mocha taste. Great because it's not very heavy and at 5% it turns out to be a really nice ender to a night of good beer drinking. Although this was the beer that turned me on to stouts and porters, I think after trying a large selection, that this particular stout is a bit watery and it's aroma doesn't quite do the drink justice on it's taste. In fact it has an almost porter smell and mouthfeel until you tasted the stout and really get that coffee/mocha taste. Definitely best out of a pint glass if not a snifter, and great mixed with the Black Bear Brewery's Bluesberry Ale

Apparently brewed once upon a time for the close by Bear Brew Pub, this beer was poured on-tap at the Black Bear Brewery. Served in a tumbler pint, the beer is a brown-to-black coloring with ruby highlights and a light tan, frothy head. Decent cling as you drink. Nose of mocha and coffee, blended with a touch of sweet cream. Bitter roasted aftertaste on a thin body. Clean, smooth finish, with a slight roasty, bitter linger. Tasty brew.
