The appearance was a brown close to a black colored body with a one finger white foamy head and leaves a decent amount of lacing that quickly spider webs. The smell had some floral and bitterness up front, citrus undertones, somewhat roasty/coffee-like aromas trying to come out but mainly subdued. The taste was balanced between previously mentioned flavors to mainly stay bitter yet resinous, dry bitter aftertaste and finish. On the palate, it sat about a light to medium, somewhat sessionable, ABV not felt. Overall, this is an American IPA or American Black Ale? The colored body and aroma makes me wonder, ah - no worries, still liked it and would have it again.

Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a tumbler pint, the beer is a ruby-copper color with a bright white, filmy head. Very clingy. Nose of caramel sweetness and tang, with a bitter hops presence. Very floral and bitter. Flavors of caramel sweet in the backbone, with grapefruit highlights and a steady dose of hops overtones, both resinous and floral. Tangy, bitter aftertaste with a touch of sweetness still in there. Dry, bitter finish. Very solid, and I made sure to take a growler of this home with me.
