Vom fass at Schäufelewärtschaft in Nuremberg. This is a very unique beer. Uniquely sweet with hints of hazelnut and brown sugar. Like a brown ale and dunkel mixed together. Went well with the meal but would be best with a dessert.

A: Bronze, thick looking, small head, left some lacing.
S: Hay and caramel, slight floral hops.
T: A blend of biscuits and slightly roasted malt gave way to a lingering fruity bitter finish, also had notes of caramel.
M: Crisp texture despite not being overly carbonated.
O: A very nice beer which defied the labels given on beer websites.

Bottle at unpronunciable shop in north east berlin. I asked for a good German beer to drink there and they gave me this one wich i found pretty good in a hot and sunny day.
Dark amber color, not so dunkel-ish but a mix between a lager and an actual dunkel beer. Tiny white head due to the pretty low carbonation.
Aroma is rich of malt, maybe too sweet and sugay when beer starts to warm up.
Taste is really balanced, strong maltiness mixed with the right bitternes; some herbal/hoppy hints. Good drinkability, would have another one.

Far too much diacetyl to be a thoroughly enjoyable dunkel.

I was able to sample this on 25SEP10, at the Nürnberg Altstadtfest, along with Caitlin. Had two 0.4l mugs, each costing 3.10.
This one was an amber, honeyish color. The clear liquid had a light off-white head which was foamy and creamy, and lasted well with good lacing. Aroma was well restrained, with dark malt notes and roastiness coming forth. Smooth all the way, it also had a good, medium body.
Had nice, light roasty malts and a hint of sweetness. Suggestions of toffee were also present, with subtle floral hops finishing things up. A solid session bier; quite drinkable!
Zum Wohl!!

An overall very good Dunkles from Franken. Very true to style in every respect.
Pours a dark cloudy chestnut colour with big frothy head
Smells of malt, grainy hops and some floral notes
The taste is very well balanced with some bitter grainy hop notes balancing out the strong malty caramel flavour
Body is medium with refreshing carbonation
Drinkability is HIGH
