Subtly fruity with warming, roasted notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Dark ruby red with a frothy head. Crisp and balanced with bitter, sweet, roasted notes and a dry finish.

I find this Guinness Extra Stout failed as a stout. The hoppiness is over-powering, making me believe this beer is a Black IPA. I taste no notes of chocolate, caramel, nor coffee as others have described it. The beer was poured from a bottle into a glass. Head was very minimal. Color was near black, without any sun light shining through. I will not drink it again.

11.2 oz. bottle (brewed in Ireland) poured into a small goblet in Oregon. I enjoyed this brew . I've had it several times on draught in Ireland and a few times, bottled in America. The bottled version never seems to match the European draft version (no surprise - BUT - Still it's a very good dry Irish stout (n the bottle) in the U.S. The aspect I especially appreciated was the subtle 'late' bitterness that comes from the lingering hop presence.

Thick, undulating, tan head. A very dark brown look that cannot be seen through. Deep, dark roasted grains and a bit of chocolate & caramel, for the aroma. Very heavily roasted grains and a little wood for the taste. The body is fairly full and the finish has a good lingering roasted grain aspect to it.

Step up from Guinness stout. More complex, richer malt with smokey chocolate flavors.

All the qualities of regular Guinness but exemplified. Lovely tan head with notes of roasted malt, chocolate and black coffee. Misses the nitro creaminess, but certainly makes up for that in flavor.

This beer used to be my favorite, until the red-labeled bottles. The new bottles is like hopped up Rauchbier. It's not like a ale at all. The smooth, caramelly, slight sweet aftertaste is gone. Now, it is like a black lager with a smoky, burnt taste with some funky hop taste at the end. Also, gone is the rich and chewy mouthfeel. Instead, we have a much thinner mouth fell, with a bunch of crisp carbonation. The aroma of subtle coffee, chocolate, and dark fruit is no longer. Now we have some over toasted and smoky notes. I honestly, I don't think that you can even call the a Dry Irish Stout anymore. They need to go back to the traditional Dublin import.

Pours extra dark with creamy khaki foamy cap from tall bottle to wide stout glasa. Dark beer with extra notes of coffee and cacao, the original OG Guinness stout is good!

Dark red on the edges to black in the center. Very subtle coffee smell maybe a little something else. Surprisingly bitter flavor but finishes sweet. Dark chocolate. Grass. Maybe the best part is when you breathe out through your nose after a swig. Sharp fizzy bubbles and very light body. It's good. I like it better than Guinness draught (draft?). It's unique.
