Just had 2 of the worst beers of my life (one Ukrainian and one Spanish, let's hope this Lithuanian Ice pilsner can rescue my taste buds and blood stream.
Pale colour but a proper smooth head. Mild, refreshing slightly hoppy effervescent aroma.
Wow, mega refreshing. Super light malt and beautifully balanced light hops. Usually I love hoppy beers and intense bitterness, but this "ice" pilsner is executed amazingly well. Maybe it is because I just drank a Spanish and UKrainian beer that both hid their producer and country of origin and were both 2 of the worst beers I have ever had. This however is proper honest refreshing natural tasting perfection. I really want this in the sun on a hot day. I love the lightness of the malt. The hops are really complex but light...I guess elements of marzipan, dates...a little lemon peel in the aftertaste. Perfectly balanced with the light malt. This isn't strong, just perfectly balanced, light, natural tasting and mega refreshing. Light mouth feel but still lots of fullness and aftertaste.
The name "Horn Disel" (spelt wrong) and can design makes it seem cheap. And it is cheap. But relative to value, it is totally amazing. If this was 5 times the price and labelled as Japanese or Austrian (2 countries that this beer reminds me of), I would still like it. Maybe I am getting a bit carried away after the Ukrainian beer I just poured down the sink. But this is mega impressive and deserves a high score.
