One of three Gordon Biersch locations in an airport in the US (along with six in Taiwan!), and the only GB location still operating in what I believe was once their hometown of San Jose. Six taps, with a full range of their standards pouring fresh. I found the experience to be perfectly acceptable for a pre-flight pint, given the available options.

In all the mid-af options you have at SJC, this is easily the best one. The other spots you may find a drop of craft here and there, but they all come and go and their menus change through the years if they even last. GB provides a reliable, predictable set of options. You got your Marzen, Hefeweizen and Pilsner, some IPA they made because it's the post-2010's craft scene and a few cans of Sierra Nevada and other craft. I have not seen the seasonal bocks on in awhile, hoping they have not nixed that.

For all you frequent flyers flying out of San Jose, there is a Gordon Biersch located in Terminal A of the airport. Plenty of tables, a long bar, TV's, and some Gordon Biersch memoir provide the decor to this pub. It's a lot better than waiting at the gate of your flight.

6 taps at the bar: four are Gordon Biersch offerings (Hefeweizen, Pilsner, Marzen, one other), the other two are filled by Budweiser and Bud Light (pourquoi?!). Beers are served in a plastic cup, and if you get a Gordon Biersch offering, expect to pay $7.25 plus tax (almost $8 a pint!).

Didn't need much service at the bar as I drank the hefeweizen at 8:30am. Oh, and if you get the hefe, be sure to tell the bartender to hold the lemon, as the Gordon Biersch hefeweizen rivals those in the Bavarian tradtion.

It may be a bar under a chain name, but there are busier airports which don't have a place this good for beer.
