American Wild Ale

I'd never tried a wild ale before tonight. To be honest, I wasn't planning on trying one either, but just sounded interesting. The appearance is a nice deep amber with a nice white head that never goes away, but leaves a ton of lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell is crisp and sour, citrus-like. The taste is very interesting - there is a chardonnay like sourness that is balanced very nicely by the malt and hops. This is a very crisp & refreshing beer, which is accentuated by the mouthfeel. The taste is a bit much, though, which detracts from its drinkability. Overall - this is a really cool brew. Recommended.
