Had at Kuhnhenn's newer location in Clinton Township.

Great stuff. I'm a fan of Bean Flicker by Odd Side, and I think I prefer this one... something about it is so refreshing. There's a perfect carbonation, a pleasant citrus finish with the coffee -- it's just right on. The aroma is especially like fresh coffee, and the taste is loaded with it as well, but it's nice and balanced with the IPA base. The finish isn't particularly bitter, which makes this very drinkable. Thankfully, this doesn't drink watery like many 4.5%/"light" IPAs. I prefer this to Fluffer by a decent margin. Definitely worth a try if you enjoy coffee.

Served on tap into pint glass.

Pour is a crystal clear golden with long lasting, pillowy, one-finger white head.

Nose is rather light, but very pleasing with tropical fruits standing out. Coffee was light, but noticeable.

Taste matches the aroma almost identically, only slightly more assertive. The coffee again serves as a complement to the fruity aspects of the beer, imparting more of a creamed taste than bitter roast.

Probably the best part about this beer was the mouthfeel. The coffee really adds a lot of body, making the beer oh so smooth and drinkable. Bitterness was medium and appropriate for a session.

Well, Thumper is proof (to me) that coffee can work well in an IPA. Kuhnhenn blended this one well, allowing the coffee to complement that base beer, rather than dominate.
