Dark brown in color, this Northern German Ale acts more like a lager than an ale. It has subtle malty and grainy notes on the nose, with no hop aromas. It has an extremely smooth and balanced flavor. It is light to medium bodied despite it’s dark appearance. I challenge you, “I only like light beer” drinkers to try this amazing beer.

A: The beer is hazy dark amber in color and poured with a thin film of bubbles covering the surface that dissipated into lacing.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of sweet malts in the nose along with some hints of toffee.
T: Like the smell, the taste is relatively malty and has some initial sweetness and hints of caramel, yet this is quickly balanced out by the underlying hops.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly smooth on the palate with a low amount of carbonation.
O: The beer is easy to drink and is very sessionable given its low alcohol content. It’s not a bad choice if you’re looking for a fresh altbier from the US.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with ClarkVV (thanks!). '04 vintage.
Poured a medium and cloudy amber color with an averaged sized of white head. Aromas of green apples, earthy, nutty, citrus and I also go a very light sulphur aroma. Tastes of citrus, nuts, yeast and some caramel. Lacing left on the glass.

Thanks to hopdog for this...
Appears a light, hazy amber with a small white head and little bits of scattered lacing around the glass.
Smell is of light sour apples and hops with light amounts of caramel malt coming through.
Taste is of the same aromas
Mouthfeel is slightly sour with some nutty malt trying to balance it out. Not a typical alt, IMO but not a bad beer.

from the bottle. poured a muddy amber with no head. aroma toffee, fruits like apples, yeast, hints of green grapes and mixed nuts.flavor slighty fruity,, hints of alcohol, sour dough all were weak I think I let this one sit too long and got too warm. so I decided to try another one that was colder and the flavors did come out a little more this is a beer that you need to drink around the 45 degree range. another good one from the brewery

Pours orangish tan in color. A one finger head dissipates after 30 seconds or so. Smell is pretty good with malty bubble gum smell. Mouthfeel is a little watery with grainy taste. A slight sour taste. Reminds me of a homebrew alt beer I made years ago. Taste is very slighty with a very light body and almost watery taste. This is a beer to take in big gulps and not sipped. There are some caramel notes. Very slight bitterness but not much. I prefer the Vienna style for drinking more than one.
