Received in a trade about 3-5 months ago.
Chilled 12oz bottle with no freshness date pours into my Padres pint glass.
Website states: "A red lager made using the traditional decoction method. This method produces an intense malty flavor and aroma. Aged for two months for a clean lager character!
A.B.V. 6.2%"
Appearance is good. Color is dirty/dark orange with bright orange hues on the edges. Murky as hell. Tiny head develops then quickly fades to tiny bubbles at the top.
Smell is above-average. Smells like a weak version of a Belgian Flander's Red. Sour and tart but not overbearingly so. Sort of a stinky beer but not in a bad way.
Taste is good. Once again, sour and tart, but not overwhelmingly so. Malts have a presence but aren't huge. Back-end of the flavor is dominated by Tamarind with a hint of lime. Surprisingly clean, refreshing and enjoyable. What's funny is this beer might be past it's prime only because Vienna lagers are suppose to have some sweet flavors. No sweetness here.
Mouthfeel is very good. Carbonation is higher than normal but fits in well. Full in the mouth and finishes very clean. Pleasant.
Drinkability is good. I could knock back at least 2 of these and not feel as though i needed to switch beers.
Overall: A good Vienna lager that has an addicting taste and mouthfeel. even if this is an older bottle, the flavors were good. Recommended.

Bottle-conditioned lager. Pours a murky, hazy, orange amber with a small, ephemeral, off-white head. Buttery cookie dough, butterscotch, and herbal hops on the nose. Slightly tangy, vegetal and fruit malt up front. Turns more caramel and butterscotchy. Mild sourness in the finish. Makes me wonder if this is an old or "off" bottle. No freshness date so how should I know? Reminds me of some Viking (the brewery) adventures I've had in the past! Not too bad, but the sourness is not in the style at all. Medium-bodied. I actually kind of like this, sourness and all!

Malty. Pours out to a cloudy orange brown color that reminds me of spiced apple cider fresh from a mill. Low carbonation, no lace. Aromas are light and fresh; freshy malty buttery notes swell around a touch of smoke and yeast. Taste is middle of the road. Not too complex, but enjoyable. Flavors of smooth buttery malt, refined grains, mild hop oils, some sweet sugar cane. Nice. Oddly, this beer seems to do best when served quite cold. At warmer temps it seems to get bland and the flavors mesh too much. Mouthfeel is smooth and silky. Drinkability is pretty good. More carbonation would really make this a true winner. Worth trying. Another solid Kuhnhenn offering in the bottle.

Undated 12oz that just says "Vienna" and has a coat of arms on the label. Purchased at Merchat's in Dearborn and poured into a pilsner.
Dark amber with a small head that falls quickly and leaves tiny spots of lace.
The nose has much more life with caramel and buttered biscuits with some spicy hop aromas. A little butterscotch in the back. Very much like a Dopple.
Quite sweet upfront with strong malt flavors slowly fading into some spicy hop bitterness, but the malts do carry through to the finish but the bitterness holds it back. A bit thick in the mouth per style but it actually helps this beer. Makes it a bit bolder than other examples of VL.
An interesting and drinkable Vienna.

Pours a dark amber. There wasn't really much head to speak of. After finishing the beer the glass was lined with a very sudsy lacing.
Smells very sweet with small hints of hops.
It tastes much like it smells with sweet malt flavors early. The hops do end up coming through and balance it out. It feels pretty medium bodied and sticky.
This beer, although not nearly their best offering is very refreshing and quite tasty. I would definitely order it again and recommend it as a great warm weather beer. This place just keeps putting out awesome beers.

A very malty version of the style. This reminds me very much of an old style Oktoberfest, but as I understand it, that's very much what this style is all about on a certain level.
Pours a copper in color with little to no head to speak of. Nose is quite malty/sweet in nature. Taste is initially quite toasty, but very smooth, very lightly carbonated, but not flat by any means. It certainly has that lager crispness but has a heavier body. Finish is a bit toasty reminding me of an amber ale. Hop signature is minimal, but balancing.
Quite nice.
