12oz bottle at share, cellared. Dark amber brown pour, small foamy off-white head. Aroma is tart cherries, funky notes, Belgian yeast. Taste is all about the Belgian tartness, slick, fruity, malty. Tartness and sweet cherries linger on the palate.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, 2017 vintage. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep ruby red, light copper/brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy cherries, fruit skin/pits, cranberry, peach, plum, pear, apricot, melon, lemon, lime, red/green apple, currant, red grape/wine, toasted oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, oaken vanilla, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of cherries, fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, oak barrels, and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big sour/tart/tangy cherries, fruit skin/pits, cranberry, peach, plum, pear, apricot, melon, lemon, lime, red/green apple, currant, red grape/wine, toasted oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, oaken vanilla, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy cherries, fruit skin/pits, cranberry, peach, plum, pear, apricot, melon, lemon, lime, red/green apple, currant, red grape/wine, toasted oak, peppercorn, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light leather/funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, oak barrels, and dark/bready malt flavors; with a fantastic malt/tartness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying, puckering, astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tartness, fruit tang, and spiciness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and fairly acidic/tangy/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 10.5%. Overall this is a fantastic Flanders brown. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, oak barrels, and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the big ABV, with the mellowly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Fantastic soft feel and not overly lactic. Fantastic balance of juicy/jammy cherries, Brett/Bacteria complexity; with great oak presence and nicely rich malt backbone. Mildly sweet with lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing imperial style example.
