This is the 2014 vintage, aged for an extra 6 months and released during 2015 Summer Solstice.
This one pours a murky golden brown color, with a very small head, and no lacing.
This smells like booze, bourbon, leafy/bitter hops, caramel, toffee, heavily spiced oak, and leather.
The extra time in barrels has certainly made this even burlier and gnarlier than the regular version, which is pretty unforgiving to begin with. There's lots of barrel - heavy oak spice, leathery bourbon, and lots of booze. There's some still hop character hanging on, even with five years in the barrel.
This is medium bodied, brash and bitter, with a smoother finish than that upfront gnarliness would imply.
I'll always prefer BA4D from these guys, but this is still always a pretty cool beer to try.
