On tap @ The Great Taste of the Midwest (Madison, WI) on 8/14/10. Several samples served in a tasting mug. This had the dry ice put in at first for "effect" so I waited for things to die down a bit before beginning with the review.
Pours black/very dark brown, topped with a thin layer of creamy and rich mocha colored head. Both retention and lacing stays frothy looking the whole way through. The aroma is smooth and roasty feeling in the nose, smelling of chocolate and peanut butter. No two ways about it. There is a bit of earthy hop behind it but it no mistaking that this smells exactly like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.
The taste is sweet up front with the chocolate character at first, before peanut butter flavor kicks in, along with some earthy hop bitterness. The finish lingers with a dry and roasty feel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a firm crispness that fills the mouth, along with some chewiness underneath as well. I'm getting a little bit of warmth from that posted 6.2% ABV but it overall isn't noticed a whole lot.
It was pretty amazing how they pulled the flavors off here at first but honestly this just came off as a little too one-note and gimmicky to really get overly excited about. Well at least there is truth in advertising with this one!

Tried this at the summer brewers guild fest.
A- Served with small bits of dry ice in the beer, it was bubbling and smoking and making a beer scene, and I loved it! The bubbly cauldron style froth was quite large and rich tan in color. It sat atop a not-so-solid black/brown beer.
S- This was one of the best smelling beers I tried at the fest. Super nice and sweet chocolate and peanut butter. It didnt smell like many other beers. Very reminiscent of a reeses cup.
T- Here is where I began to get left down. It wasnt as strong on chocolate or peanut butter as I had hoped. Everything was kinda weak.
M- Too watery. I felt short changed.
This beer was still a great experiment, I would like to see some improvements made and have this beer reappear.

On tap at Michigan Guild Brewers Summer Fest
Pouts a light tan head. Color is a bark brown.
Aroma: Peanut butter and sweet chocolate. Sweet and malty. Smells like the Reece's puffs cereal.
Taste: Just like the aroma: Sweet chocolate and peanut butter. Not to much else here. Reminds me of the cereal.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, smooth, rich, and sweet. Medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Ends dry.
Overall, it was an interesting beer and was just as the name said. Really good peanut butter flavors in this beer. It was fun to try something like this.
