On tap at the Michigan Brewer's Guild Summer Festival 2011. Tasted along side nearly all of the other fruited versions.
Appearance
Guava seemed to have no effect on the appearance to this beer. It was a really hazy, lighter straw colored beer. Really nothing special.
Aroma
The aroma was light. Bretty, grassy, hay-like funk was the dominate aroma. The guava seemed to impart a light melon-like aroma to this beer. The fruitiness wasn't strong, especially when compared to the others. A little bit of watery, juicy melon and grassy funk pretty much sums up this aroma.
Taste
Very light and refreshing (for those who like a little brettanomyces on a hot day). A dry, bretty funk leads. Wet, juicy, subtle melony flavors follow. I'm not really sure what guava is, but its giving this beer more subtle flavors that have a tropical bent to them.
Mouthfeel
Dry, crisp and grassy.
Overall
I'd say that this was one of the least successful fruited versions of Play in the Hay. But it was still pretty good.
