2023 Kuhnhenn’s black raspberry eisbock. Poured from an hour in the freezer. Dark clear copper color. Black raspberry aroma is satisfyingly fresh. Flavor is crazy. Bock, strong bock with an earthy quality that hits on the finish. The fruit is imbued in every touch of the tongue. Mouthfeel is crisp up front, despite the earthiness on the back. Very cold, so not getting any chocolate notes that I’ve read about, but I like it just like this. $30 ish might be steep for 12.7 ounces, but it’s a nice drink. I shared the red raspberry earlier, so this one I keep for myself. Blueberry is on the radar to buy

This one pours a light-ish purple-red color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells, well, like black raspberry juice,, with a bit of tartness on the nose, some chocolate, breadiness, and a touch of booze.

This is not as good as the original Raspberry Eisbock, but it’s still worth a try. The Black Raspberry dominates the taste proceedings more than some of the other fruited versions of this beer, but that’s because Black Raspberry is such a singular strong flavor. There’s still definitely a hint of milk chocolate and caramel, some breadiness, from the base, but this is 90% black raspberry.

This is a little thin for the style, and for the series itself, but it’s pretty drinkable and doesn’t taste quite as boozy as the strength would indicate.

I’m happy to have tried this but I’ll always prefer Raspberry or Blueberry Eisbock, personally.
