This dark brown German lager is dominated by Munich malt, with a bready and malty nose. With mild caramel and chocolate notes this beer is robust while being drinkable like a lager. It leaves the palate malty with a medium-dry finish.

This was poured into a weizen glass. The appearance was a milky soft brown color with a foamy finger and a half’s worth of head. Mild lace, somewhat messy, sliding. The aroma had some toast, light clove, some white bread, even lighter banana esters. Milk chocolate with a little bit of caramel at the very end. The flavor blended the banana sweetness to the clove somewhat sweet with spicy under touches. Light bubblegum. Nice aftertaste of the bubblegum, wheat and caramel. Quick toast-like to bubblegum sort of sweet finish. The feel was between light and medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fairly light. ABV felt appropriate. No wheat kick as I usually expect that from the style. Semi-smooth along my tongue. Overall, mostly nice dunkelweizen that I could come back to.

1012th Review on BA
Bottle to Weizen
12 oz
Summer Solstice 2011
Thanks to Erikkoppin for this one.
App- A mix of mahogany and brown and some crimsons. A small 1/2" to 1" semi brown head that fell very quickly.
Smell- A nice bit of a damp fruit with a little bit of whispy booze. It has a bit of a sweetness with a malt backbone.
Taste- Its fairly sweet with a damp fruit backbone. Has a very odd taste I can't put my finger on. Its maybe more of a wheat base Im sure because of closeness to a Hefe with more of a banana flavor.
Mouth- A lower medium body with a medium carbonation. Faint spicy with some damp fruits. Fairly residual banana and clove.
Drink- I think this is very tasty, just can't put my finger on that unique taste. Pretty glad this was a 12 oz vs a bomber

An awesome rare beer tick provided by Huhzubendah in a small post baby birthday tasting that happened while the lady folk coo-ed at the newborn in the next room.
Beer served in some sort of tulip, I don't recall. Beer is brown and hazy with a thin off white head, some lacing, moderate to low carbonation.
Aroma is yeasty and sweet with a mild frutiness.
Beer is medium to light in body, sweet and yeasty and effervescent on the palate. It is pleasing but simple. The finish isn't dry but nice and a little wet. Low bitterness. Interesting but I have a hard time getting excited about them very much.

Bottle courtesy of Huhzubendah. Served in a Bruery tulip.
Pours a slightly muddy moderate brown color with a thin off-white head and some fairly-good lacing. Nose carries notes of light toast and bread plus just a touch of German yeast, bringing moderate clove and mild banana. Flavor is fairly malty with a bit of yeast. Nothing bad, but nothing all that exciting either. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Decent, but not a great take on the style.

Served side by side with Kuhnhenn Hefeweiss. Shared with Mike & Matt.
The beer appears a mildly hazy, mahogany shade of brown. An off-white, bordering on light tan, head measures approximately 1/4". After a few moments, the head settles to a thin wispy layer.
The aroma is far more assertive than the Hefeweiss. Banana, malt, light spices, sweet bread, sugar.
The flavor is nice and enjoyable. Plenty of banana presence. Akin to banana bread. Sweet, but not too. Nice notes of bread and brown sugar.
Thin to medium bodied, with adequate carbonation. Alcohol presence a non factor.
Overall, a decent brew, though still short of the high marks set by the authentic German examples of the style.
