This traditional farmhouse ale originated in Northern France and is related to Saison style although it sweeter, rounder, more malt focused, and lacking the spicing and tartness of Saison. This batch was made with 100% Michigan malted and grown barley and wheat. Malty sweetness on the nose, this orangish amber beer exhibits high malt, fruity flavors and is medium bodied.

A - White foam settles to a thick collar, a few wisps, and minimal lace. Hazy brown body that is significantly darker than the picture on the menu.
S - Toasted grains, some Belgian yeast, grassy and herbal hops, light toffee and brown sugar, and some fresh bread. Not particularly fruity, even though those flavors are mentioned in the description.
T - Again, very bready, with some light sugary notes, a bit of spicy Belgian yeast, and a touch of herbal hop bitterness in the finish.
M - Medium-full body, light warming alcohol (which was a bit of a surprise after getting none from other higher-ABV Kuhnhenn beers), smooth texture, medium-low carbonation, and a fairly clean and lightly dry finish. Drinks more like an 8-9% beer, in both alcohol presence and overall heft - not necessarily a bad thing I suppose.
D - It's pretty drinkable for what it is, but it's another style of beer that makes it tricky to step outside the conventional flavor profile. I'm impressed they managed to make it this authentic with locally sourced ingredients.

On tap at the brewpub, the second day of the Solstice. Brown coloured, no aroma Some sourness, yeast, lacy. Not getting fruit, although some orange and lemon rind. Not hitting the style, not that drinkable. A style I normally like more than others. A bitterness that keeps me distant.

Had this in the sampler then had to order the 10oz serving. Served in a pint glass, so more than 10oz were served. It had a hazy carmel color with a big, creamy white head and the lacing stuck to the glass all the way down. Aroma was a earthy & grassy in the typical Farmhouse Ale/Saison style.The taste was an excellent blend of some spice, malt and fruitiness. Wonderfully complex. The mouthfeel has a slight dryness to it and is very smooth, true to the style. Incredibly delicous beer. I was surprised to see a farmhouse ale as its a rare style to find. According to one friednly guy who worked there it was brewed about 7 weeks ago(estimate) Excellent!
